Petro Express like 7-Eleven to stop selling CITGO
I guess all the repugs would rather buy their gasoline from Iran and Saudia Arabia.

From today's Charlotte Observer

Petro Express Inc. is phasing out Citgo Petroleum Corp. gasoline. By next year, the company will no longer sell the brand.

Citgo, the refining arm of Venezuelan national oil company PDVSA, has become the subject of a growing boycott in the United States since Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez referred to the president as "the devil" last month in a United Nations speech.

Petro Express hasn't cited global politics as the reason for the change, but the brand is disappearing from 45 of its 66 locations this year. The company joins convenience store giant 7-Eleven, which this month dumped Citgo at its 2,100 locations.

Dallas-based 7-Eleven said it had a change in the works for several years, but noted in a written statement that "regardless of politics, we sympathize with many Americans' concern over derogatory comments about our country."

4. Me too.
Its either CITGO or COSTCO where I fill up. I'm just going to have to look harder for genuine CITGO stations.

3. Chavez has bigger problems than a boycott
Due to his generous programs to the poor, his country is now running a deficit even with oil revenues.

This year it will be about 7 billion dollars.

Venezuela's Chavez Chalks Up Deficit Despite Oil Gains

CARACAS -(Dow Jones)- Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez's spending has exceeded his government's gains from oil sales this year resulting in a gaping deficit that many believe will grow in coming months.

The Andean country's accumulated deficit stood at 4.9 trillion bolivars ($2.3 billion) at the end of July, according to the latest central bank figures released late last week.

Chavez has continued to run up bills at a faster pace than his revenues from sales of crude oil in international markets.

Venezuela's heavy crude has sold for an average of $58 a barrel this year and the Andean nation produces 2.6 million barrels of oil a day, according to data from the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, or OPEC.

"We expect to see a deficit of $7.7 billion this year" or 4.3% of gross domestic product, said Andreas Faust, an economist at Banco Mercantil in Caracas.

The Pantry Files Suit Against Petro Express

Marketer claims it lost $160,000 due to below-cost sales violations in South Carolina.

The Pantry Inc., which operates more than 1,400 convenience stores in 11 Southeastern states, has filed a suit against Petro Express alleging the competitor's lower per gallon prices at the pump have caused them to lose profits.

The Pantry, based in Sanford, N.C., owns a gas station in Gaffney, S.C. It sued in Cherokee County, alleging that Petro Express had kept prices at two of its Gaffney stations below cost, according to documents obtained by the Associated Press.

With gas prices approaching $3 a gallon in South Carolina, it would seem The Pantry's complaint would not get a lot of support outside a courtroom.

But The Pantry's suit says its competitor violated South Carolina's Unfair Trade Practices Act. Under the law, motor fuel retailers can't set prices below cost if the purpose is impair competitors.

However, The Pantry, whose retail brands include Golden Gallon, Lil Champ, Handy Way and Kangaroo, says it has lost $160,000. A judge is expected to hear the motion on July 31st.

Hmmmmm.... what to do...

Buy gas from a country with a somewhat nutty but harmless leader whos major offense is dissing the president, or buy gas from a country that sponsors terror, and provided most of the 9/11 hijackers.

Well, my mind's made up. I prefer to buy Citgo when I can.

12. Seems like that's a stupid move. I'd expect with "peak oil", Venezuela
will not have a problem finding a buyer for their oil.
