Wetterling forges ahead of Michele Bachmann
this is great good news. sorry if it's a dupe.
Bachmann is evil incarnate

www.startribune.com

DFLer Patty Wetterling leads Republican Michele Bachmann 48 to 40 percent in the hot race for Congress in Minnesota's Sixth Congressional District, according to the latest Star Tribune Minnesota Poll.
Independence Party candidate John Binkowski received the support of 4 percent.

The poll, conducted Oct. 6-12, may have been influenced by the Mark Foley congressional page scandal, which brought attention to Wetterling because of her work as a child-safety advocate.

Those who said they know a lot about the Foley story, and those who said that it was affecting their vote favored Wetterling by a significant margin.

Negative feelings toward President Bush, opposition to the Iraq war and a belief that the country is on the wrong track all seemed to be hurting Bachmann, even in a district that Bush carried by 57 to 42 percent in the 2004 election.

1. Great news, Wetterling must win this one
For those outside the state who do not know Michelle Bachmann she is insane, just go to the Minnesota forum if you want to learn more about just how insane she is. Trust me, unless you happen to be a lurking Freeper you absolutely do NOT want to see Michelle Bachmann in Congress. She would make a person like Tom DeLay look pretty level-headed by comparision, and if you can make Tom DeLay appear even a tiny-bit level-headed then you are absolutely insane.

This is a district that has been considered to be safely Republican, but Patty Wetterling is very well respected in this state. Everyone knows about Jacob Wetterling, his story is one that gets talked about a lot and has been for years before Patty Wetterling entered politics. She has done great work in helping missing and exploited children, and virtually everybody in this state knows her for that work. She can win this traditionally red district, and this poll proves that. Patty Wetterling can win this race, do whatever you can to support her.

2. Bachmann is Minnesota's Katherine Harris.
She is absolutely batshit crazy and divorced from reality, in many of the same ways that Harris is nuts. The only significant difference is that while Harris comes across as a creepy aging sexpot, Bachmann comes across as a creepily repressed fundie preacher's wife.

3. EXCELLENT news, thanks for posting, MnFats!
Go, Patty, go! The people of the 6th District deserve better than having a mentally ill, paranoid extremist representing them in DC, even if many of them are a bunch of stuffy Bushbots. There's good folks there, too.

happily,
Bright

5. Be careful of StarTrib polls...
They usually lean left of all other polls. Anyone who knows Minnesota knows there is no way she's up 8%. Even considering the margin of error, it would be questionable. I wouldn't be surprised if she is up even as much as 3%. But keep in mind that other polls taken around the 10th (which were displayed in Yahoo's Daily Battleground Update as they're published) had Wetterling down 3%. I believe I saw 2 polls that said as much. So the StarTrib poll must be taken with a grain of salt. For Wetterling to be up 8% in this poll taken at the same time as the others in a conservative district is clearly "sketch" to say the least. Don't take this poll for granted. As much as I'd love to see her win, and possibly work for her, it won't be and is not by 8%.

Let's wait for some of the others.

In the meantime, http://news.yahoo.com/s/cq/20061016/pl_cq_politics/battlegrounddispatchesforoct16;_ylt=Ag6YRmU4AgZaPHhCOZ5rIwiM5QcF;_ylu=X3oDMTBjMHVqMTQ4BHNlYwN5bnN1YmNhdA--">This Battleground Update talks about her leading fundraising in the last period by $300,000. I challenge everyone to donate at least $25 to her campaign and, if possible, donate $100 and spread the word through email. 6. Thanks for the links. Bachmann has such vile tv ads. The Wetterling
campaign could really use tv ad money. The Bachmann ads are ruthless, relentless and will become nearly constant over the next weeks.

7. I listened in horror the other night to the C-Span debate among the
candidates for this seat. The Foley headlines notwithstanding, there seems to be plenty of reason to reject Michelle Bachmann's candidacy for Congress.

Bachmann's "fool for Christ" comment is repellent. I don't know how she got elected in the first place, but let's support Minnesota Dems' efforts to get her out.

This poll is encouraging for Wetterling.

Go, blue.
