Anyways, I never read that there was any refutal of the (first set of) in-laws' contention that he signed letters either "SBTC" or "Shall be the Conqueror". Perhaps (if he signed "SBTC") the letters came after the murder and information about the ransom note was revealed to the public. Maybe the in-laws were lying.

It just seems to me like it remains possible that the Boulder D.A. office may not have investigated Karr thoroughly enough, instead relying on a DNA match. It may have exculpatory information that has not been made public.

Considering that "Victory!" preceded the "SBTC" signature, "Shall be the Conqueror" seems a quite plausible connection. I read that he signed several high school yearbooks the same way.

One not-so-small thing that I think has been lost on most of the public is that Karr did not go public with his "confession" until after he was arrested.

One thing is certain: in the divorce petition Karr's second wife stated that he was a danger to all children. I'd be interested to know what occurred that made her believe that.
