The ultimate hypocrisy in the church: Color of the Cross

I was listening to the local black radio station while riding home from work, and the discussion revolved around the shunning and "blacklisting" of this movie.

The movie features a black Jesus.

The director is not getting any support from the black churches. Yet, these same churches bought tickets in bulk for "Passion of the Christ" for their members. Some churches even offered exclusive screenings.

The director, Jean-Claude LaMarre also and plays Jesus in "Color of the Cross." He also composed the score, the first film score in LaMarre's career.

LaMarre said that he was given the brush off once they became aware that Jesus was portrayed as a black man. They wouldn't even talk to him. The one who did discuss the film with him said his opposition was based on the film "huge historial inaccuracies". Yet they flocked to see Gibson's gruesome blood fest.

Talk about hypocrisy!!

1. Actually this is a campaign

I'm feeling lately like I should pursue. I don't know how but I'd love churches to be questioned about why they hold on to this illusion of Jesus' ethnicity. Down with blond Jesus! Just because you have faith doesn't mean you have to be terminally stupid.

For what its worth I'm a white man and I don't know why this burns me so much except that I hate dishonesty and hypocrisy in all of its forms. I love fucking with the christians too I just can't help myself. B-)
