getting oil changed in huge service center...tv on faux...I boldly walked
up and changed it to NFL network...said faux was nothing but propaganda for the nut jobs and aside from dagger looks from two people, most of the others stopped looking bored and started watching the tube.

before I would have never been so aggressive...NOW I am aggressive 24/7. We have to be...we can not afford any less

2. Good for you
I probably would have done it without any announcement, and explained myself privately to anyone who asked, but that's more a difference of style than anything.

3. Good work - -
Mr blm and I have taken to walking out with big harumphs whenever an establishment has FOX on.

7. You've inspired me. Next time I walk into a business establishment,
i.e, a chain restaurant, that has Fox on, I'm going to tell the manager to either change the channel or I'm leaving. Last time I'd already placed my order before I realized Fox was on. And I will explain it's propaganda for Bush & Friends (I live in a blue county in a blue state for god's sake)

9. Buy a TV-B-Gone
http://www.tvbgone.com/cfe_tvbg_main.php

Your TV-B-Gone® universal remote control resembles other TV remote controls, but is different in two important ways. First, it only has a power button that allows you to switch a TV on or off. You control when you see, rather than what you see. Second, the device is so small that it easily fits in your pocket, so that you have it handy whenever you need it wherever you go: airports, bars, restaurants, laundromats, etc.

“You can use TV-B-Gone® to control access to television for philosophical or practical reasons, or simply to have fun!“

—Mitch Altman, Inventor of TV-B-Gone®

TV-B-Gone® now features the Instant Reactivation Feature which allows you to turn TVs on or off quickly and easily. TV-B-Gone® is a type of Universal Remote Control which works by shining pulses of invisible light that tells most any TV to turn off or on.

It worked fairly well, but if you're serious, just carry an actual Universal Remote with you.

6. It was on at the doctor's office last week
We changed the channel to Noggin. Much more intellectually stimulating, and more faithful to reality.

8. My wife hates it when I do that.
I've stopped patronizing places that have Faux "News" on the TV.

I've also stopped going to the place that put Veggie Tales cartoons on the TV, too.

Also, I've gotten one restaurant owner hooked on watching Keith Olbermann.

We were in there having dinner, Fox "news" was on, so I asked him to change the channel to MSNBC (so we could watch Keith).

Now, if you go there at 8pm, you're likely to see Countdown.

Try that experiment: Visit an establishment at 8pm and ask them to put on Keith.

13. So that's why i've never seen Olbermann!
We're always watching the re-run of the Daily Show at 8!

11. Good job! I got my local bank branch to turn off FAUX after writing
letter to the bank president. I have never seen FAUX on again in there--CNN, MSNBC, but no FAUX.

12. Good going, greenbriar. I asked the manager of my gym to nix Fox...
Edited on Tue Oct-17-06 01:15 PM by KrazyKat
And she switched the tube over to MSNBC. That was three weeks ago. My gym-going is pretty regular, and I haven't seen Faux on the box there since that night.

Even the small victories count.

On edit: typos :(
