RNCC Gets Nasty in CT
I live in the CT district currently represented by Nancy Johnson, (CT-5) and her Dem challenger is Chris Murphy. In the last 3 days, I've received 4 pre-recorded phone calls - all different messages - all blasting away negative lies and distortions about Chris. They have all come from the RNCC. They piss me off.:grr: What do you think would be the best way to bitch, moan, complain and/or otherwise send a message about how angry this makes me?

BTW - I have already proudly cast my absentee ballot - including my enthusiastic votes for Chris Murphy and Ned Lamont!

1. LTTEs stating the facts and the distortions
call the local tv and radio stations regarding the calls.

3. Thanks Debi
I should have taken more detailed notes on what they said so that it could be refuted point by point. :( I guess it wouldn't hurt to do an LTTE about "negative attacks" in general, and the ridiculous frequency - more than 1 a day!

2. Call the NRCC every 5 minutes and tell them to stop
ask your friends to do the same.
Ask that your # is removed from their list(s)
Call back about 50 times and ask to make sure
it has been removed.

11. Just called Chris Murphy's headquarters too
They told me they've been getting calls all day from people giving them a heads up. One person said that they'd received 7 calls in just 1 day. Unreal!

I should have thought of that earlier. I'm one of those folks who thinks of great things to do/say 10 minutes after the fact.

12. and dumbass Lieberman has declined to endorse the democrats
running for this and other seats and said he wouldn't answer a question about whether it would be better for dems to control the house or republicans and some national dems (like B. Clinton) still think that Joe will vote with democrats if he wins.

14. Thinking that Sore Loserman will vote with Dems
is utterly delusional. What scares the hell out of me is that there's a very real possibility that if he manages to steal enough D and I votes (we clearly know he has the Rs) he could very well wield enormous control over the Senate as the 51st vote. :scared:

16. How about this...
We get a Dem governor for CT, Lieberman wins re-election (seems likely) then we recall Lieberman* and the governor names a replacement. I love the irony of it -- Lieberman rejects the primary results so... we reject the general election results.

*How many candidates is a party allowed to field in a general election in CT? The GOP is dumping money into Lieberman and is actively supporting his candidacy.

17. Love the idea, but won't work this time
The incumbent R governor, Jodi Rell, is leading DeStefano by better than 20 points in the last poll I saw. She's the least horrible repub I know, but I was fooled once by John Rowland too. You're right about GOP dumping tons of $$ into Lieberman's coffers. They're completely ignoring Schlesinger (sp?) and he's only pulling about 4%. We're probably going to be stuck with Sore Loserman unless Schlesinger can manage to pull a few more votes away with his not-totally-awful debate performance today.

19. Joe must care utmost about what's good for him, Joe Lieberman
Joe needs Republican votes to keep his long-term hustle going in Washington longer than Strom Thurmond did. Why should he risk offending his best supporters just to help the Democratic Party? That's not his game.

20. Why would they ever think that?
Lieberman wasn't exactly the most reliable Democrat in the Senate even when he claimed to be one.

Now that he's a Republican-backed "independent," he's even less likely to caucus with our side.

13. Same thing in Illinois
RNCC is running ads here that are plain lies (Duckworth wants to give amnesty to all illegal aliens, just for one). They're pretty amateurish, though, obviously run through a smear mill, and they come across as cheap and unreliable. Particularly since we see ads from two or three districts, and they all look the same, all really cheezy. Since I am in Chicago, I don't get the phone calls, but I can imagine.

15. They're pretty sneaky too.
They start off with a very pleasant tone of voice and something like "I want to talk to you about so and so" At first, I thought it was going to be something from Chris's campaign, but nooooo! Gets nastier and more vitriolic by the word.

18. Those ads piss me off to no end...It's obvious that Tammy's opponent...
..RosSCUM..has run out of ideas, and PLAINLY obvious that the RNCC is REALLY worried that they'll lose this seat, but it just makes me so mad when blatant lies get advertised and the Duckworth campaign doesn't appear to be doing anything about it....
