The Bush "Teardown" Gains Steam - This is Powerful Stuff - AOL - Time
Edited on Mon Oct-16-06 02:13 PM by autorank
...and I should add CNN (they're all in one corporate entity).

This is the key follow up to the ex Foley-ation of the Congressional Republicans, those pesky characters that loot and pillage the Capitol.

If you wanted to disable a party and derail an agenda, what’s the quickest way to do that? Sex with minors might do it. The dominant theme of the Bush Republicans has been religious values, values which are strangely symbolized through their anti gay marriage position. They’ve gone to great lengths to get this issue on state ballots. They were gearing up to making this the center piece of their campaign once again. After all, what else can they run on: sound fiscal management, effective response to natural disasters, helping the poor? This was their issue and they owned it free and clear. But now that issue is in shambles and so is the Republican campaign to retain control of Congress. The Republican owned voting machine companies are going to be very busy from now thorough Election Day. Even that may not prove sufficient to save this crew.
Teardown: The Mainstream Media Turns on Bush. Michael Collins, "Scoop" Independent News.

Rep Kolbe is being investigated for, well, taking a hike with some teenage guys. And Rep. Weldon is being looked at by some Federal law enforcement agency. It's moving along nicely, the "Teardown."

But this is just amazing! They're going for his core once again, but this time with Bush...DISRESPECTING CHRISTIAN FUNDAMENTALISTS behind their backs. Shocking to the Christan supporters, this will come as no surprise to us. The WH crew respects nothing

Sex is just the vehicle. It’s about something much bigger.

It doesn’t take a Ph.D. in the Obvious to conclude that there are powerful forces that simply can’t tolerate any more Bush disasters. How else do you explain the Republican controlled corporate media’s abrupt change from denial to a total focus on this story so utterly devastating for the administration and Congressional Republicans? How do you explain the timing just before the 2006 mid term elections? And, how do you explain the fact that this and other stories showing up (Iraq malfeasance, 911 neglect, etc.) are all old?

A month ago ABC was flouting a misleading documentary blaming Bill Clinton for 911 and Time magazine was announcing its new executive editor, formerly of the very right wing DeVos Foundation. All of a sudden, as if by magic, they and other corporate media are leading the charge against the ruling party.

7. Thank you.
I can only hope to do the same service to my country as the graphic artist and editor did in producing this most devastating of charges.

Can there be any doubt? Of course he mocks peoplel behind their back. Tucker Carlson told us about him mocking Carla Fay Tucker as she waited to be murdered, er, executed by the State of Texas.

You know, if Bush had just read some of the New Testament, he might not be in this pickel:

"1:26 If anyone among you thinks himself to be religious while he doesn’t bridle his tongue, but deceives his heart, this man’s religion is worthless. 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before our God and Father is this: to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained by the world."
James 1:26-27. OPB

2. Creating an enemy
The Bush administration has has spent most of their time in office creating an enemy for you to hate. This great invisible empire of terrorism has been played up to even exceed the excesses of Joseph McCarthy. It was one thing to have the Soviet Union, this could get your brain around, but terrorism becomes an even more ethereal opponent by the day, constantly moving and shifting like a desert mirage. Suddenly, the administration finds themselves a target, not some political vaporware, but a real live flesh and blood enemy. Ah, the consequences of their folly will be grim indeed.

9. Ola formercia...things are moving along nicely.
They've nailed the House for being (a) very deviant guys, in some cases; (b) very tolerant of deviance or incompetent; and (c) being hypocrites. The implication, very strong but not state is, they're taking a lot of money with a lot of perks and not doing their job.

What do you think is the logical next "revelation?"

(all of which we at DU and elsewhere in the 'sphere know already;)

19. I was big on the Larry Franklin thing...you know spying in the WH.
That would do two things. First, the logical, complete the "Teardown" would be complete with <Franklin. Second, it would nail the neocons. Third, and maybe most important, it would end any war options with Iran.[br />
It's the damn trifecta.* By nailing the neocons, we'd avoid the anti Jewish reaction that rears it's ugly head whenever we disagree with Israel and we'd have
a much more positive relationship; perhaps one that can give all parties some peace.

I still like that as the finale.

It's also anti-Orwellian (no offense;) One war zone might achieve peace or at least we'd go back to the Clinton talking therapy which worked. One war, Iran,
would be pre-empted.

Sweet!!!

*I was with a friend who won the Trifecta at New York Off Track Betting (Chelsea). There's nothing like it. Think of it, the whole country feels like it just got $15 grand (and this was in the '79-'80, yikes!).

12. Maybe
Clinton's ability to raise $7+ B in a week, with Gore talking Branson out of 3B over breakfast, made them sit up and take notice. Think about it. Gates, Buffett, Branson...
Even Murdoch was there...
Wes Clark just came back from a meeting of world leaders in London...

Maybe the power brokers behind the scenes woke up that they are on the wrong horse.

I'm not talking about the visible ones like the neocons we know, not even the fat cat ceo's - I am talking about whoever it is behind the curtain really calling the shots. All they have to do is snap their fingers and say "cancel the diebold thing - we don't WANT these assholes any more". The'll toss wolfie, bushie, et al aside like yesterdays catbox litter if it suits them.

They might have to change their focus a little, accommodate more social programs and such, but if they believe our little "fight back" campaign is going to win, they might want to change horses fast, and make the best of it.

32. COUP 2000 - "sElection by the gang of 5" Thanks Uncle Joe...
It was an awful time and there were storm clouds on the horizon. Who would have thought the storm
a drama would have lasted so long. We have an awful history to live down. Why did that happen daddy,or grandpa? What did you do? Why didn't ... Good grief. Germany and Japan flamed out in the militarism department and they're much better off for it. It's a losing game, all this fighting for the greater glory of public "servants" who think that they are masters (in their own minds).

We need to win big this time, everybody and their brother has to show up at the polls, push our selves through the door and demand to vote, see it counted, and have it tailed fairly. That will be tough since watching a plastic case of a crappy computer is not really counting. Actually, watching a poll worker struggle with the insides of these 80's contraptions is really sad. In my area, they try real hard but there have been snafu's, one in 2003 that screwed the Republicans. They wrote a white paper that made all the points we make here just on the basis of losing a couple of seats in the Assembly.

Lets make Election Day a Vote-In, Count-In.

The next shoe to drop: I realize that my thoughts are fairly self-indulgent, but I'm hoping the next shoe to drop is the however-many visits one Jeff Gannon made to the White House with no supervision and no security background check, and what (or whom,) he was doing there. What do you think?

31. Never underestimate the personal/family dimension.
What was that play, Lysistrata, where the Atheniam women got fed up with the endless ware and came up with the perfect solution to stop their men from fighting:

LYSISTRATA
And not so much as the shadow of a lover! Since the day the
Milesians betrayed us, I have never once seen an eight-inch gadget
even, to be a leathern consolation to us poor widows.... Now tell
me, if I have discovered a means of ending the war, will you all
second me?

CLEONICE
Yes verily, by all the goddesses, I swear I will, though I have to
put my gown in pawn, and drink the money the same day.
MYRRHINE
And so will I, though I must be split in two like a flat-fish, and
have half myself removed.
LAMPITO
And I too; why to secure peace, I would climb to the top of
Mount Taygetus.
LYSISTRATA
Then I will out with it at last, my mighty secret! Oh! sister
women, if we would compel our husbands to make peace, we must
refrain...

CLEONICE
Refrain from what? tell us, tell us!
LYSISTRATA
But will you do it?
MYRRHINE
We will, we will, though we should die of it.
LYSISTRATA
We must refrain from the male altogether.... Nay, why do you
turn your backs on me? Where are you going? So, you bite your lips,
and shake your heads, eh? Why these pale, sad looks? why these
tears? Come, will you do it-yes or no? Do you hesitate?

39. Hey Jiim I light my primo cigars with Franklins;)
For you, a special story but first, this torture bill stinks to high heaven. They can pluck us out of our homes, from rich to homeless, all of us, and lock us up if they think there is (deleted) involved. Then they can deny us legal services, even the right to represent ourselves. We don't get to find out what the charges are but pretty soon, we've forgotten all about that because they get to torture us. The two types of torture not allowed are death and organ failure. Hey, it only took 4,000 years of recorded history to get this right but that didn't matter to "the gentlemen's club."

That's why these people need to go far away forever. I suspect that a few of the real heavy hitters saw the little charade a couple of Fridays ago and decided that not only * but the Republican Party is a potential menace to them. What a nice way to raise funds. "Oh, Mr. John Bresford Tipton, please come with me." I was returning to the DC area from the "We Count" conference in Cleveland (voting rights). So I'm doing 80 on the Ohio highway heading toward the PA Turnpike toward DC. I get nailed by a Ohio State Trooper. Tailed and pulled over, damn.

A young trooper who seemed a little quirky approached so I decided to break the "ticket receiving code of silence" and speak to him. I immediately plead my guilt.

"Why did I pull you over?" I responded right away, "Because I'm guilty, I did it." He laughed. He was doing some writing and I said, "Did you hear that Friday they revoked habeas corpus. He stopped writing and looked up. "I didn't get that memo," came out immediately. But he was interested. I went on, "They can pick us up, citizens, take us in and then torture us, all the time denying us legal representation or a recitation of the charges." He looked very interested and said, "Wait, isn't that for terrorists?" and seemed a bit relieved. I said, "Well, they get to decide who the terrorists are."

Without skipping a beat, he tore the ticket off, smiled and said:

"Good news! We won't be torturing you today, it's just going to be a traffic ticket."

I was so happy for that. It was like a get out of jail free card. I got him thinking though and I'm sure he went and did his research.

The Wizard behind the curtain...the elite class.

"We don’t need to resort to secret meetings during dress up day at the Bohemian Grove or some other obscure and mysterious venue or organization. Just think of those who control the great wealth of America as members of a trade association. Instead of a particular field like medicine or banking, the purpose of this trade association is to preserve wealth and investment in the United States of America. They’ve been meeting for years. Occasionally, when things get out of hand, they have to take action. This is one of those occasions. The outcome will be yet another great drama that is played out as a morality play when, in fact, it’s just about preserving and expanding wealth. It shouldn’t be that way, but it is. Hopefully, the people will begin to see The Wizard behind the curtain and take more control of their lives and country."
