So is Rove going to make "The Death Penalty" this years hot button issue?
Is that why Saddam's sentence will come down on the 5th?

1. Yawn! -- Boy, THAT was a hotly debated issue...
...back in the 70's.

2. No. Too little, too late
Saddam getting the death penalty (a) is something that has been assumed and (b) isn't going to start a big debate in this country, not in the 48 hours before the election.

3. I don't think there is enough time to make it this years hot topic and
besides most polls seem to indicate that a big majority do favor the death penalty, so we'd be stupid to fall for their tricks and make it a vital issue when there are so many other big issues that we should continue to capitalize on: The decision to go into Iraq, corruption, the economy/deficit, Foleygate, and so on...

4. Making Saddam a frame to hang the death penalty on
is uber stupid, so I hope KKKarl bets the farm on it.

First, the real frames activated by the trial are A. The loss of habeus corpus in the US and abandonment of the rule of law, and B. Where Saddam got his old WMD's from, anyway?

Death Penalty? Why not go back to Gay Marriage?
Will the Republican party broaden their policy to make an exception for man/boy marriage? It seems to me that the puggies are a lot more nuanced on gay issues than they let on. It must be the Mehlman/Hastert/Foley touch.

5. If he was he needed to start 3 months ago... Board is set, game started...
We are like 3 weeks from election day, it is a little late to add much else NEW to the mix.... The new cycle just doe not have the time...

6. I don't think there's time to make anything a hot button issue
But I certainly wouldn't want to underestimate Rove.
