Sixteen Candles for Soldiers : This Saturday!!

Every day brave Americans are dying as a result of this Administration's actions. It's up to us to demand the truth and accountability. Join me THIS SATURDAY, October 21, 2006, at the State Capitol Steps in Montgomery, Alabama, and we'll show the Bush Administration what real support for our troops looks like. We will demand they get the benefits they deserve and that they be brought home from this war we were lead into by liars. We will protest and have a candle light vigil in honor of the fallen. There will be live music and speakers at "Sixteen Candles for Soldiers," so bring a friend or a whole crowd. If you are a musician or speaker who is interested in being part of Sixteen Candles for Solders please contact us. Help us get the word out and make this a big event by emailing the site's link to friends and family.

5. Anytime, my friend!
Anytime I see a post from you, I know that it's well worth reading...:D And this is a terrific idea. I wish you all the luck in the world with this! I'd be there, wish I could be, but I'm in NY, and I really hate to drive...;)

9. I've been to more than one candlelight vigil.
Edited on Tue Oct-17-06 01:10 AM by Rhiannon12866
The most memorable one was in the park, in my small town in Northern NY, just before the invasion of Iraq. I live in a red district, and didn't expect a large turnout, but people braved the ice and snow and I lost count at 75 people... And another one took place, just around the corner from the one I attended, which had an equal turnout. The other group came over to join us and we had a procession, all carrying candles, throughout our downtown district on a Sunday night. It was pretty remarkable and that picture is one that will always stay with me. If only the local paper had shown up to cover it, since it would have made a wonderful front page pic. *sigh* Good luck with this, my friend. It's an inspired idea.:-)

on edit: punctuation, again. I'm typing in the dark...:eyes:

14. Hi Ava!
Did you try contacting Will Kimbrough as I suggested in the Alabama forum? I don't know him personally, but he's a great musician and he, rightfully, holds Bush in contempt.

Keep up the good work! I'm proud of you.
