"Reagan repealed the Great Society...."

A quote I heard at a concert this weekend, as best as I can remember.

"Reagan repealed the Great Society (Lyndon Johnson's programs.) Bush Senior repealed the New Deal. Now his son is in the process of repealing the Enlightenment. Just think of what the next Republican president will have to do to top his predecessors!"

description of what those people have done in this country. truly, truly mind-boggling.

Enlightenment and re-write American history.

3. What?

A lot of GS programs were eliminated or consolidated in the Nixon Administration. We still have Head Start, Legal Services, Medicare, Medicaid, student loans, the school breakfast program, Job Corps, VISTA and highway beautification.

One program that was eliminated was the Community Action Program, which folded in the mid-1970's. That program was a fiasco.
