Klobuchar Fails To Fact-Check Kennedy On Woeful Job Growth Under Bush
Click here to read the entire analysis.

<snip>

Klobuchar can sit on a large lead with three weeks to go until Election Day. Kennedy has underperformed throughout the campaign, and yesterday his low-key speaking style did little to inspire.

But even though Klobuchar is nursing her lead, she should have remembered that the issues being discussed on a national news program can effect other races around the country. To that end, she should have, at the least, played fact-checker to Kennedy's spin.

2. If you genuinely care then please email Klobuchar's people?
Provide her this information via email. Show her people the facts to HELP them.

However, I will not partake in what IMO is nit-picking.

She's aces in my book. :yourock:

Let's help her PRIVATELY (via direct email) vice post natty little critiques on a message board for the Freepers to pick up and run with? The Right Wing is freaky and mean-spirited enough without giving them more ammunition.

3. it's not nitpicking
If the race were closer, it would matter for her.

But she's still a rep of the party. Let's not forget that.

4. She did great. Big thumbsup from me.
There is more to winning a debate than to refute every single talking point. In fact that is rarely possible. People don't fact check all the responses either. So they make their judgements on a combination of the statements factual content and how well they think the candidates are at wining a debate regardless of facts. Also what they can judge of the intelligence and honesty/sincerety.

5. she let a lot go by
I think she was making sure she didn't say anything that could be used against her in future advertisements by Kennedy. She's running out hte clock, to use sports parlance.

But IMHO she didn't have real solid answers on what to do with Iraq -- when Russert showed her quotes she had given a few months ago, she backtracked from them, and then she talked about coming up with a "diplomatic, political solution," but never explained what that was.

Neither she nor Kennedy did well, but objectively, I think Kennedy did better.

Mind you, this is like saying between Finland and Antartica, which is warmer. I don't think either of them did a particularly good job. No real passion from either. Just a lot of backtracking from things they had said over the past couple of years, and a bunch of talking points from both sides.

6. Then I submit that you are, in essence helping the Opposition Party
by not showing a little humbleness and privately email this to her camp. Why is it so important that you educate and impress us INSTEAD of where the information would be greatly appreciated and put to good use? :(

Yes, I'm disappointed because this is no way to help a strong Democratic Candidate. This only serves IMO, the opponent.

Again, instead of venting with *inconsequential* us, PLEASE email her campaign and HELP her campaign? :hi:

8. why not kill the messenger
the Minnesotans among us should follow through with their candidate. If I contacted each Democrat who failed to address a GOP talking point during a debate, I'd never get any real work done.

9. IMO you are not trying to help the common good.
To be honest, I have no idea what your TRUE motive is - honest!

If you have a problem with her, write her. So far I have seen nobody who is signing-on to your NEGATIVE critique of a fellow democratic candidate.

IMO, such public, (versus private email to the source) derison does not help OUR PARTY win Congress.

Whatever you may truly have against her campaign, as a GOOD Democrat who wishes to see Democrats Win - it's on you to do the right thing.

12. my objective
Edited on Mon Oct-16-06 04:08 PM by JABBS
is to point out that although Klobuchar will win, and I understand why she would not push hard so close to election day -- she's running out the clock -- i wasn't overwhelmed with her performance.

I'm just giving an honest opinion of what I saw. I don't think I should have to defend myself.

And sorry, I've seen lots of people critical of other Democrats -- Bob Casey, John Kerry, etc. It's called freedom of speech. This message board is not designed to be "you're with us or you're against us." That's the other side's thing.

10. Yes, I saw the same segment - She's Solid.
Her challenger came off as "shrill and petty" in comparison.

I'm impressed with her calm presence and magnanimous style. :-)
