Al Gore Sends French Assembly President 'Reeling from Shock
The former American Vice President presented his movie on global warming – (French])Parliamentary President Debre was sent reeling from the shock.

October 11, 2006

Former Vice President of the United States Al Gore was welcomed at the National Assembly on Tuesday evening for a screening of his movie on global warming, An Inconvenient Truth Watch RealVideo. After seeing the film, Parliamentary President Jean-Louis Debre RealVideo said, "This movie must be the starting point for a new awareness regarding the seriousness of global warming, including for French politicians."

Al Gore drew up a quick summary of his film (the glaciers are melting, the planet's population has quadrupled in less than a century, while the technologies capable of destroying it are thousands of times more powerful) before saluting his "ally" Jacques Chirac, committed to the cause and known for his forceful statements on environmental issues.

Al Gore is not lacking in compelling ways to explain the problem. "Our planet has a fever, so we went to see the doctors, the scientists. They have given their diagnosis. Our habits and our way of life, which releases so much pollution into the atmosphere, is making our planet sick." He then added that between our technology and our intelligence, we have all that is necessary to look after it, "all except the political will."

Too bad he can't get that kind of response in our own Congress

7. "Gore fait son efffet L'Assemblee"
translates better as "Gore blows away the Assembly."

Of course the only things that blow the Republican congress away are pages.

9. Gore has really globalized 'global warming'
and connects to the rest of the planet at a time that when a cohesive message is critical to maintain a bridge until numbnuts leaves the WH.

10. Does France have a public financing mechanism for Parliament?
Is that why they are more receptive to Gore? Because they're less poisoned by corporate bribe money?
