New Progressive Liberal Radio Network Formed (Ala Air America Radio)
reposting this with a thread title that more accurately reflects what is happening.

Mike Malloy apparently will be part of management as well as talent.

.....................................................................

Mike Newcomb, MD
CEO & Chairman, Nova M Radio, Inc.

We the People,

It is with great excitement and optimism that I announce today the formation of a new progressive talk radio network. Myself along with my partners, Anita and Sheldon Drobny; the original cofounders of the Air America Radio Network, want to be the first to tell all you “truth seekers” that the original truth seeker himself Mike Malloy will be born again live on the public airwaves. The planned second coming (barring any apocalypse) is scheduled for October 30, 2006. The Mike Malloy Show will initially broadcast live, from 9PM -12 Midnight (EST) on Nova M Radio affiliates 1480-AM KPHX Phoenix.

In addition, I’m equally excited to announce our strategic partnership with Joe Trippi and associates. Joe Trippi revolutionized electoral politics in America with his instrumental role in Howard Dean’s 2004 presidential campaign, raising over $40 million in small donor contributions over the internet. Joe created a new paradigm in how campaigns locally and nationally are conducted by leveraging the scope and breadth of innovative internet-based technologies and digital tools. Joe and his team will help us reach out to millions of us who share common values and common goals.

Also joining our team will be internationally renowned pollster John Zogby, President and CEO of Zogby International. John will be co-hosting a weekly one hour show, “The Pulse of the Nation” where John polls particular hot button issues from politics and pop culture to the War in Iraq and stem cell research. Each program will include expert guests and audience participation. At the end of each show John will reveal the secret results of the poll and each listener will then know whether or not they have their finger on “The Pulse of the Nation”!

We will continue to build upon the foundation laid by our predecessors and will work tirelessly to fulfill our fiduciary responsibilities to our investors. Equally important, we will with the millions of faithful progressive listeners uphold our vision to promote freedom, social justice, economic justice and peace worldwide.

We have many more exciting announcements to make; new talent, name of new network and so on. So stay tuned and keep up to date at our web site, www.novamradio.com ! And as always, from the bottom of my bleeding liberal heart, God Bless America!

In Solidarity,

Mike Newcomb, MD
CEO & Chairman, Nova M Radio, Inc.

2. K&R! This is great news! The purchasing of stations is where
the real control is. I will give generously (for me, anyway) to this venture. A network of OWNED stations is right where the progressives should be!

4. Great news! I just sent an email to their CPA, asking if

5. DU Needs To Put The Links To The Audio Back On These Pages
I used to like clicking real quick to check in with Bernie Ward or Mike Webb...now you have to go fishing to find the shows...it'd be nice to have a place here where people can find links to Progressive talk shows...and maybe even a forum to discuss them.

The Drobnys helped AAR get off the ground and I know the Phoenix AAR staff has worked extra hard (after that 1010 AM fiasco) to build a strong operation. Here's hoping they can land an affiliate or two for Mike and then to build from there. One initial problem AAR had was it wanted an "all or nothing" deal with its affiliates...you had to carry all of its shows or none of it...they did get away from that, but it chased away a lot of early station interest and forced AAR to develop a 24/7 format that was a major financial strain on them. Jones has taken the other approach...developing programs like Ed Schultz and just getting that show on as many stations as they can...and it looks like they're positioning to launch other shows when AAR vanishes.

Here's wishing this new venture the best of luck. Maybe the TPTB here will look at a way of restoring those links and giving some visibility to Progressive Radio.

Cheers...

10. I couldn't get AAR up where I live in Woodstock
northwest of Atlanta. The signal was too week. But at least I could stream it from the Web site.

11. Very weak
I work on Moreland Ave near 285 and could barely get it with my Walkman. Which explains a lot.

13. I have mixed feelings about this
Newcomb is from Phx and one of the heads of AARPHX.
The station has been going downhill since it came back in April.
They recently cut one of the best...if not the best...local progressive programs aired on Saturdays.
Also cut Rachel Maddow from their programming.

But - having another progressive station would be wonderful. I am hoping it will be a success.

15. me too, pirhana! Do you think this means we will NOT be getting AAR
in Phoenix? I don't think this new lineup sounds like it is competitive, at least not for me. I want Randi Rhodes. And I don't want to trade listening to her for Mike Malloy , Zogby and Trippi! I hope this is not the case.

14. The news about Zogby is terrific. Just this morning I was
making a wish that there could be a station that would offer a little bit more than 'talk' formats. The first thing that popped in my head was a program put on by the ACLU - they have so many plain spoken enthusiasts for the Constitution as it exists and as it is being broken. And People For The American Way.

We all need to keep on learning. We at least need to know what we're losing - we've lost two and one half of our five most precious rights - vote, habeas corpus, freedom of speech/dissent, privacy, and movement.

All replaced with hate, bigotry, killing, propaganda, theft, weapons and deception.

We have to fight by learning and teaching.
