2. Gay marriage legalized in New Jersey, Oct 25, that's the real Oct surprise
Even if I'm wrong on that, how will this help Republicans though? If it gets Americans to think about Iraq, it can only be bad. CNN has Bush's job disapproval at a raging 66%.

4. I rather doubt there is sizable percentage of people basing their vote...
....on a verdict that is pretty much foreordained.

Everyone has known Saddam has been captured for a couple of years and support for the war has soured because it really didn't make any difference.

9. It is sorry excuse for a media grab right before US elections
With that date, you can not convince that there is collusion from the bu$h regime to insure it happens and he will be found guilty.

The whole trial has been a sham and the verdict will be the same.

10. Remember
To Rove it's all about the base. When the long litany of Saddam's crimes are shown over, and over and over again on the MSM, it will remind enough of the Republican base that it's a good thing that Great Leader Bush removed him. And maybe Iraq was for a good cause. So maybe they won't stay home and they now feel okay to vote republican. Stop thinking rationally and think like a republican.
In 2004, the Osama tape released just before the election did not remind people that he was still at large, the way many here thought it would. Instead it lead some people to support Bush, because they were reminded of the "danger" that still existed.
Sorry, this will work in their favor.

11. Lame at best.
But I hope the military on the ground over there are ready for the back-lash if he's convicted and sentenced to death. Ooops, did I say if? I meant when.

Does anyone know how much the CIA paid the judges ruling on Saddam?

Or maybe Karl wrote them a check.
