No more war candidates-give peace a vote!
The (CodePink) link below is to sign the petition to 'give peace a vote':

http://www.democracyinaction.org/dia/organizationsORG/codepink/petition.jsp?petition_KEY=295&t=GPV.dwt

The Voters Pledge makes visible a powerful political force, the peace vote, a force that politicians cannot continue to ignore. It sends a clear message to the hawkish minority leading both major parties that we, the people, demand to end the occupation of Iraq and to end unprovoked attacks on other nations.

Pledge:
I will not vote for or support any candidate for Congress or President who does not make a speedy end to the war in Iraq, and preventing any future war of aggression, a public position in his or her campaign.*

1. This is a ridiculous position to take.
It certainly won't help to end the war in Iraq. The only way to get change is to change control of Congress. If that requires voting for some pro-war dems then that is what has to be done.

The concept is simple. The party that controls congress controls the money and the agenda. Why is this so hard to understand?

3. Changing Control of Congress?
Ha!

Don't be so naive.

Changing control of Congress will not end the occupation of Iraq.

Election 2006, the Fix is Aleady In: John Walsh/CounterPunch.org

Don't vote for any candidates that do not support immediate withdrawal from Iraq.

4. Nader-esque nonsense
While we are at it, would you like us to shoot ourselves in the foot?

5. I didn't say it would , but it's a step in the right direction.

Besides , there is MUCH more at stake then ending war in Iraq. It's quite likely that Bush will be nominating another Supreme Court justice. Do you want him to do so with another rubber stamp Senate? How about the environment, education, health care , discrimination, domestic spying, rolling back tax cuts for the wealthy, poverty etc.

Anyone willing to throw away control of congress over any single issue is a fool.

6. Regardless of your opinion, I will not be voting for anyone
who supports this war. It's a proven failure and if I can see that, I have no respect for anyone who can't.

8. So in order to make a point you will help ensure that Bush
has a blank check for the next two years? That is way BEYOND ridiculous. It's insane. It's people like you that gave Nader 90,000 votes in Florida in 2000 ensuring that the war in Iraq would happen. Hopefully there are very few voters who lack the ability to see the big picture. If you think that your stance on this issue will do anything to help end or shorten the war in Iraq then you're terribly naive and you are part of the problem. What it will do is help to ensure we 'stay the course' and that many thousands more innocent Iraqis die. So you go ahead with your self righteous attitude and if we don't get control of the house or senate you can be proud of the fact that you helped extend the war and played a small part in every death that occurs there after.

I have no respect for those who can't see beyond the tip of their nose.

11. You have the nerve to call me self-righteous? I think you should
read your own words.
And FWIW, I didn't vote for Nader in 2000 and the war in Iraq hadn't even started.
I think you're letting your emotions get the best of you.
And why would my support of an anti-war candidate prolong the war?
There are very few Dems left who do support the war, and the numbers are
dwindling.

Take a

10. No, it's a great position to take
The majority of the nation wants this Iraq debacle to end. Any candidate who won't publically support an end to the war is siding with an ever-shrinking minority and thus is fighting a losing battle anyway. I don't want to vote for losers.
