George Soros Donates To Wesley Clark
I just heard this on C-Span. He donated $75K to Wesley Clark. I think it was to his PAC, but I'm not sure. The hostn said that this was interesting because, for one thing, he could have donated $5K to Hillary Clinton's campaign, but hasn't so far. Sorry, I can't find a link, but I just thought I'd mention this for all you Clarkies & potential Clarkies out there.:)

1. And Does C-SPAN Mention Bob Perry's "Donations"?

He just unloaded several million last week on slimeboat ads, push polls and other dirty tricks, C-SPAN and Todd sure love to find those stories about Soros and how people can't stand the Clintons...sure makes reporting another round of bad GOOP polls go down better.

3. What does that have to do with Soros' campaign donation?
Soros apparently made a choice. It would get reported no matter what.

Personally, I think he made a smart choice. At this point, I'm inclined to support a Clark/Anyone ticket in 08. We will need someone up there who know a bit about the military and how to repair the damage done to it, and who knows how to make peace as well. Clark has done both and because he's seen war up close and ugly, will be less likely to push us into one.

5. Who Cares Who Soros Gives His Money To...
I admire both Mr. Soros and General Clark. At this point I have no interest in the '08 election until the one on Nov. 7th is decided and we see where the political landscape goes from there.

Soros has become a right wing codeword as he is some sinister figure who is trying to build some uber-government and that any and every thing he says or does is built as some evil conspiracy. I'm sure there are others who cut 75G checks in recent weeks, but why is it important that we know about Soros? How about some of the big bucks that are flowing to Joe LIEberman? Isn't that more relevent to voters in that state right now?

As was my position in elections past, I have and will not support or endorse a candidate since by the time the primary bus gets to my state the issue is already decided. Other than moving to Iowa (I lived there once) or New Hampshire, or playing with my checkbook, I have little affect/interest in this process and spend my time and resources working locally. I wish General Clark the best of luck and let's see where things are a year from now about where he is, where we are and what kind of mess this country is in.

Bob Perry - The Man Behind Swift Boat Veterans for Truth

Austin, TX: Bob Perry, a major Texas donor to the Republican Party, President Bush, Republican candidates, and conservative, pro-business political committees has contributed $200,000 to Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, a group attacking John Kerry’s Vietnam service.

The Houston-based Perry owns Perry Homes, one of the state’s largest homebuilders with reported revenues of $420 million in 2002. While an active political donor since the mid-1980’s, over the past three years Perry has eclipsed the giving of Texas’ elite money men and positioned himself as the largest single political donor in Texas giving candidates and committees more than $5.2 million since 2000.

Perry worked with Karl Rove as early as 1986 when Perry served as Campaign Treasurer for Republican gubernatorial candidate William Clements and Rove served as a campaign consultant and fundraiser.

Highlights of Perry’s political contributions:

* Perry contributed $46,000 to George W. Bush’s 1994 and 1998 campaigns for Texas Governor. He has contributed the maximum allowable $2,000 to Bush’s current reelection.

* Perry was the largest individual contributor to the Texas Republican Party during the recent 2002-election cycle (calendar 2001 & 2002) giving $905,000.
