David Kuo on 60 Minutes: “The name of God is being destroyed in the name of politics”
By: SilentPatriot on Sunday, October 15th, 2006 at 6:27 PM - PDT

David Kuo, former #2 in the Bush administrations Office of Faith-Based Initiatives and author of the new book Tempting Faith, joined Leslie Stahl on 60 Minutes to talk about the book's explosive revelations and the stark contrast between faith-based rhetoric and reality from an exclusive insiders perspective.

Video-WMP Video-QT

John Amato: David Kuo comes off as a very credible and honest man. He asks Christians to take a step back from politics because something is very wrong in the White House. Will this finally wake up the Extreme Christian right to accept the fact that Rove & Bush have been using them? They mock you and ridicule you and yet you'll still line up at the ballot box.

CBS:

David Kuo is an evangelical Christian and card-carrying member of the religious right, who got a job in the White House in the president’s Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives. He thought it was a dream-come-true: a chance to work for a president whose vision about compassionate conservatism would be matched with sweeping legislation to help the poor.

5. David Kuo has a very soft spoken mannerism about him, but its very strong
at the same time. I was very impressed by this man in the 60 minutes interview and I believe he was really in this for all the right reasons and saw that this White House was in this for all the wrong reasons.

The White House must be shitting in their pants...trying to discredit this guy would be next to impossible....

I doubt it. Power is a very corrupting influence. Headquarters of a certain denomination is in this area. I don't see much faith or holiness coming from them, mostly politics and power.

8. Yep ...
The only question is if the rank and file will start to realize they are being dragged around by their noses ... I saw Tony Perkins on some interview, and you could tell he was just weathering the storm ... The power hungry freaks know that party republicans are scum, and their only chance to have skin in the political game is to saddle up with repugs ...

7. Stahl's inane statement that Bush........
"has to live within the political process, that he can't get everything he wants" is pure BULLSHIT! The Republican rubber-stamp Congress (and MANY more Democrats than I'd like) have given Bush EVERYTHING he's wanted. There's no question that if Bush had actually WANTED to go forward with his "compassionate christian conservative" agenda that he would have been given carte blanch to do so by a Congress that, until recently, has never said NO to Bush.
Evanhellicals HAVE bastardized religion. They HAVE made god an issue in politics. It's as plain as their stuck up noses on their faces.
Get god out of politics or soon politics will start legislating god. (they've attempted this too many times already) The two do not belong together as the framers of our Constitution knew.
