Chris Wallace Ignores 20,000 Emails Demanding He Ask Rice About The U.S.S.
http://thinkprogress.org/2006/10/15/wallace-ignores-emails/

More than 20,000 people emailed Chris Wallace and demanded he ask Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice this question today:

Prior to 9/11, you had eight months to respond to the al-Qaeda attack on the U.S.S. Cole. Why didn’t the Bush administration take action and put al-Qaeda out of business?

Wallace didn’t ask the question or any question on the topic. It’s the twenty-fourth time Rice has been on Fox News Sunday since 9/11 without being asked about the U.S.S. Cole.

Last month, Fox’s Chris Wallace asked President Clinton why he didn’t respond to the Oct. 12, 2000 bombing of the U.S.S. Cole. He asked the question even though the “CIA and the FBI refused to certify that Bin Laden was responsible” until early 2001, which foreclosed the possibility of a full response during the Clinton administration.

Wallace claimed he asked the question of Clinton because “I got a lot of e-mail from viewers.”

40. "How sharper than a serpent's tooth it is to have a thankless child".
William Shakespeare must have had a premonition of Chris Wallace's attitude about his father. After all Mike did for his Chris he turns around an stabs him in the back like that. Pitiful, simply pitiful.
It's almost impossible to believe that this condescending, smarmy little shit weasel is Mike's son. Guess what Chris? The best part of you ended up as a stain on your parent's sheets.
I wish Chris Wallace, and FUX News, nothing but the worst in the future. They deserve nothing better. Fuck off and die.

I watched FNS yesterday morning. Rice was "on remote" from Camp David, as opposed to nearly every other interview done "in studio".

They (conveniently?) started experiencing "technical difficulties", with the connection going out and going black while she was talking, but all of Wallaces' questions up to that point were about NK, and did not seem to be leading up to anything regarding 9/11, his interview with Clinton, or the Cole. It was apparent he wasn't going to stray "off topic".

(PS: When will the next Bush WH official be on? No excuses next time.)

10. I watched the segment, knowing he was going to give her another pass.
I didn't figure he would mention the Cole. He doesn't want people thinking too much about it, now that he's helped reinforce the lie that the failure to retaliate was Clinton's fault.

I was thinking through the whole segment that she had been given all the questions ahead of time. Every one of her responses seemed prepared.

January 27, 2001: Al-Qaeda’s Role in USS Cole Bombing Triggers No Immediate Response

The Washington Post reports that the US has confirmed the link between al-Qaeda and the October 2000 USS Cole bombing (see October 12, 2000). {Washington Post, 1/27/2001} This conclusion is stated without hedge in a February 9 briefing for Vice President Cheney. {Washington Post, 1/20/2002} In the wake of that bombing, Bush stated on the campaign trail, “I hope that we can gather enough intelligence to figure out who did the act and take the necessary action. ... There must be a consequence.” {Washington Post, 1/20/2002} Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz later complains that by the time the new administration is in place, the Cole bombing was “stale.” Defense Secretary Rumsfeld concurs, stating that too much time had passed to respond. {9/11 Commission, 3/24/2004} The new Bush administration fails to resume the covert deployment of cruise missile submarines and gunships on six-hour alert near Afghanistan’s borders that had begun under President Clinton. The standby force gave Clinton the option of an immediate strike against targets in Afghanistan harboring al-Qaeda’s top leadership. This failure makes a possible assassination of bin Laden much more difficult. {Washington Post, 1/20/2002}

for doing what he was hired to do.
He is a faux news shill for Rupert Murdock and Roger Ailes.
And those two are rather much in step with the rovester.

Any day now I am expecting to see one or the other of them in the Abramoff
fallout or the Foley/Hastert scandal. They are so embedded in this WH.

22. But Richard Clarke said it was because it happened on Clinton's watch
The WH wasn't interested in retaliating for the USS Cole attack because it happened during the Clinton administration. And when Condi was asked what flies she and Junior had swatted to make him so tired of the practice she couldn't come up with one.

25. Just days into office, Clinton bombed Iraq for Bush assassination attempt.
The Shrub Administration was SOOOO adamant about undoing, reversing or not continuing ANYTHING that happened during Clinton's Presidency because he wanted to pretend like it never happened and just pick up where his father left off... "Star Wars missile shield", "oust Saddam Hussein", and undo the damage from his father's "no new taxes" pledge.

So not a single economic or international policy was continued, treaties signed under Clinton were broken and taxes passed were rolled back. And when you undo everything that gave us eight years of peace and prosperity, you get outrageous deficits, rampant militarism and a stock market that takes six years just to get back to where it was in 2000.

30. That's exactly right on every count.
That's just what their mindset was, and still is. The ignored the al Qaida threat because Clinton focused on that. He was obsessed, you see, and was just making all that noise to divert attention from what was really important to our country, the Lewinsky scandal.

20. Maybe Dubya's ambassador to Yemen should have let the FBI continue
their investigation instead of throwing them out. Then we could have had an idea of where the attack came from and then decided on the proper course of action. Instead, Dubya figured it was "swatting at flies" and chose to ignore investigating it at all.

20k people is nothing to them, unless its 20k of their viewer base, which we... ahem... are not. Face it: No Republican likes talking about mistakes they've made! No Democrat does either! But in this case, Fox is giving Republicans a free pass because, well, they're Fox and they're so blatantly biased they aren't even really news.

Perhaps if we were to get 20k of their conservative viewing base to all ask how North Korea testing a nuclear weapon is a good thing just because it draws attention away from Masturgate...
