Although it was much better than now, I don't get nostalgic for Bill Clinton-style politics.

In 96, all I could feel was "Where's the Beef?" when he campaigned on non-issues. Alas this Plain Vanilla campaigning and governing also becxame the model for most Democratic politics, for which we have been paying the price since 2000.

I fear that if Hillary runs for presidnt in 08, we'll have anotehr No-Issues V-Chip, School Uniform style of presidential race. THat will make the campaign truly shallow, boiling down to whether America wants a sequal -- Clinton 2 -- or a war hero ultra-conservative "maverick."

And if she wins, that could become the model for Democratic politics yet again.

I want a liberal-progressive populist to represent the Democrats in 08 who will rouse passions abpout the core issues. Dunno who that might be yet, but I just hope Hillary and the Centrists don't hijack Democratic politics again.

1. Seems like a good assessment of
what could happen if she runs. I also don't like the idea of two families ruling the country for decades. As much as Hillary is her own person, she is not Bill Clinton, they come from the same wing of the democratic party. We need new ideas, new personalities to implement the changes we so desperately need.

4. Exactamente -- We need new
and/or a return to good old liberal progressive values for the 21st century.

2. A liberal progressive populist is the only kind of candidate...
that will energize American workers and unions IMO. That's where we'll see a big voter turnout.

3. Agreed. Hillary is DLC through and through.
As you say, it's better than the crap we have now, but the Clintons are not progressives in any sense of the word.

We do need a fiery, articulate, progressive populist to represent the party and take these conservatives to task. If we could figure out a way to produce a Malloy/Hartmann hybrid, I think we'd have it!
