Are their ANY Dem congressional seats in jeopardy of going Republican?
I think I read somewhere that it appeared that even Jefferson who supposedly had the 90 grand in his freezer may win. Is that right? Are there no Dem seats that look like they could swing Repug in a couple of weeks?

Thanks in advance if anyone knows.

2. No
Some are in normally competitive districts, but none are in danger of losing this year.

4. I've only been following IL.

And the only seat the IL GOP thought they could flip was the IL-8, where freshman Melissa Bean is running for reelection. The GOP was hoping to take it, but Bean, a pro-business, fiscal conservative Dem, is a perfect fit for the district. The last poll I saw had Bean up 47-28.

on edit: We could have 1 or two pickups here. Tammy Duckworth has five points on Peter Roskam in the IL-6th. And the Dems in the IL 10th finally decided to get serious about mounting a challenge to Mark Kirk in the north suburbs. I haven't seen poll numbers in that race, but it seems like Seals is giving Kirk a fucking race.

8. Yeah, she's not the model democrat, that's for sure.
But there's one vote from her I really care about, and that's choosing the Speaker.

Politically, Bean seems like she would have been a Goldwater Girl. But I think we agree more than we disagree, and that's really what I look for. I'd have to run for office to find a candidate that I agreed with 100% of the time.

9. I'm in that district
The repukes are sending out lots of crap trying to get dems to switch to the independent candidate. I've received several mailings trying to paint Bean as a flip-flopper with a suggestion that Sheuer's (independent cand.) stand against the war is "principled" whereas Bean is a fence sitter. I think the amazing hypocrisy of that tactic is backfiring. To be sure it is true that Bean is a DINO and her record has pissed me off in the extreme, but repukes trying to capitalize on that pisses me off more and I'm not going to jeopardize a dem House take-over by voting 3rd party despite my disgust at Bean's poor voting record. I've also received daily robot calls attacking Bean. I sense the repukes are desperate but I think it will be closer than 47-28.

10. I think the Dems are backing another Dem candidate
How can that be? I'm not sure; I just think I read the Dem party had endorsed someone else.

11. You are right - La. Democrats endorse Jefferson's challenger
http://www.katc.com/Global/story.asp?S=5541435

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - US Representative William Jefferson, an eight-term incumbent mired in a federal bribery investigation, failed today to win endorsement from the state Democratic Party, which is supporting a challenger instead for Jefferson's seat.

The State Central Committee's 69-to-53 vote was the first time in recent memory that an incumbent had failed to win the state party's endorsement, according to Elsie Burkhalter of Slidell, a member since the 1980s.

The vote was largely symbolic; under Louisiana's open primary system, Jefferson is among nine Democrats, three Republicans and a Libertarian on the ballot. Chris Whittington, state party chairman, described today's results as similar to a "vote of confidence" for Representative Karen Carter of New Orleans, the challenger who won the endorsement.

Jefferson denies the bribery allegations and has not been charged.
