Tennessee Democrat Ford Questions `Sanity' of U.S. Iraq Policy

Oct. 15 (Bloomberg) -- Democratic Representative Harold Ford, engaged in a close battle for an open Senate seat in Tennessee, questioned the ``sanity'' of the Bush administration's policy on Iraq.

Asked on ABC's ``This Week'' program about his vote in 2002 to authorize President George W. Bush to use military force, the five-term representative said he wouldn't have backed the war if he knew that Iraq didn't have weapons of mass destruction.

``After hearing Vice President Cheney and others over the last few weeks indicate that they would have gone forward with the war in Iraq even knowing what they know now, it raises serious questions about not only judgment but sanity,'' he said.

Danny Diaz, spokesman for the Republican National Committee called Ford's comments ``outrageous'' and show ``he is an extreme and partisan liberal that does not represent Tennessee values.''

1. Hey Danny, I'm a Tennessean - born and raised - and Ford
more represents my values than that "use-my-elected-position-to-make-a-profit" Corker.
