the connection was made this morning on the Sam Seder program.

Foley's child molestation past was known about for years by the republican party leadership, and in particular, Karl Rove. It was posited this morning by Sam and Marc Maron that Foley's past was used as leverage over him to keep him on the reservation, so to speak, regarding the republican party's bigoted, fascist platform and if he strayed from toeing the line, they would "ruin his life" by exposing him. Which goes a long way in describing just how diabolical and desperate for power these people are.

Also mentioned was Abu Ghraib and the strange fact that thousands of photographs of Iraqi detainees were taken. It was noted that even the military had to acknowledge that 90% of the Iraqis swept up into Abu Ghraib were innocent people. Which gets to the point of this...

Shame - seems to be a major leg of the culture in Iraq (maybe it is a Muslim thing, forgive me, I'm not sure). What the Pentagon was doing in Iraq to make up for a lack of human intelligence on the ground as the insurgency was starting to gain strength, was to try to create an army of ratfinks. By photographing these innocent people, using those compromising positions, and releasing them back into the community their intent was to blackmail them into providing information.
