WTF? Check out this poll
READER POLL
Will the Mark Foley scandal change how you vote Nov. 7?
No

Yes, I will now vote Democrat because Republicans are not supposed to be sexual predators whereas with Democrats it is not something unexpected.

Yes, I will now vote Republican because Republicans get rid of their sexual predators rather than run them for President or give them powerful committee assignments.

8. That damned liberal media
Look at that - not one mention of how Democrats are traitors who don't deserve to live. Those damned reporters always playing footsie - while portraying the Republicans in the worst light possible - I mean there's no mention in there of how that wonderful President Bush protects us and keeps us safe.

I commented as nicely as I could muster that it was the most blatantly biased set of questions I'd ever seen and that they should be ashamed of themselves. But of course all comments are reviewed, so let's see if they even post it.

There are several countypressonlines for several states.

CountyPressOnline

At the bottom of the page you see this

TownNews

If you look up who owns TownNews you get this

Lee Enterprises

Which leads us here

Media Owners

and this gives us

Lloyd Schermer

"They are Prescott Low of the Quincy, Mass., Patriot Ledger, who seized on electronic typesetting; Lloyd Schermer of the Missoula, Mont., Missoulian, who broke labor union hegemony; and Paul Miller of Gannett, who exploited IRS-mandated changes in estate-tax appraisal.

Strong trade unions kept photocomposition machines out of many pressrooms, fearing correctly that they would destroy jobs. Schermer's only alternative to photocomposition machines was bankruptcy, so he outwitted the unions with a negotiation strategy that got the machines into his newspaper on his terms, not theirs. To simplify the story, other publishers imitated Schermer, and by the early 1980s many had routed the unions and become hugely profitable.

Family-owned newspapers celebrated their new profitability until the IRS started appraising newspapers by their soaring market values instead of their assets. In the 1960s and 1970s, gift and inheritance taxes stood at about 70 percent, Neiva writes, and under the new IRS rules most newspaper heirs didn't have the cash to pay the new tax bill. Paul Miller of Gannett helped aging owners and their heirs dodge the IRS by trading shares in Gannett for their papers, building the chain out to 79 papers by the time he retired in 1979. Other chains imitated Gannett, accelerating newspaper consolidation"

Campaign contributions of Schermer, Lloyd

Schermer, Betty A Ms. (Homemaker), (Zip code: 81611) $10000 to REPUBLICAN NATIONAL COMMITTEE on 06/21/04
Schermer, Lloyd G Mr. (Retired), (Zip code: 81611) $10000 to REPUBLICAN NATIONAL COMMITTEE on 06/21/04

28. Wrote to editor:
What is this poll all about? I am nothing short of outraged that you would post a poll giving your readers a choice between saying it is expected for democrats to be sexual predators and that republicans ‘get rid’ of their predators and don’t give them ‘powerful committee assignments’. It is simply absurd and insulting to say these things. You are trying to manipulate your readers by giving them, loaded, unfair, ignorant and insulting polls to vote on. How about this for a choice on your poll:

Yes, I will now vote Democrat because the republican party is and always has been a group of criminal pedophiles that hand out positions of power to cronies with no experience and who put child predators on the committees that are supposed to protect children.

Or how about:

No, I am still voting democrat because the republicans are a corrupt group of criminals.

Instead you just put:

Will the Mark Foley scandal change how you vote Nov. 7?
No

Yes, I will now vote Democrat because Republicans are not supposed to be sexual predators whereas with Democrats it is not something unexpected.

Yes, I will now vote Republican because Republicans get rid of their sexual predators rather than run them for President or give them powerful committee assignments.

Second Thoughts 10-11-06
By William W. Lawrence
10/10/2006

About a thousand resolute supporters of Republican Diana Irey, led by my good friends on the Free Republic website, held a "Boot Murtha" rally in Johnstown's Cambria County War Memorial Arena, last week. The get-together was deemed a colossal success. It will be even more of a success if Democrat John Murtha, a 16-term congressman, who is calling for us to cut and run in Iraq and who has falsely accused our troops of cold-blooded murder and war crimes, loses to Ms. Irey.

***
A tip of the battered old Second Thoughts Stetson to the hard-working Democrats and members of the left wing liberal media that nailed another depraved Republican. That really is a well-deserved and sincere tip of the hat. What I will criticize, however, is the timing. Although members of the press had the information months ago, the story was saved as an obvious "October Surprise" to hurt the Republicans during the November election.
America would be much better served if the mainstream media went after all crooks, perverts, bigots and ne'er-do-wells in both parties!
That will happen when pigs fly.
However, we will take what we can get in our ongoing quest for good government.
