I swear I heard this as I was waking up this morning on one of the cable news channels. Anyone else heard this?

1. Simple. He'll defund all programs except for the military and
salaries for the White House and Congress. That'll cut the budget in half (for a while).

6. Sure.
He took a $250b surplus, turned it into a -$450b deficit which is now about $-225b.

It's about like killing 20 of your neighbors last year and only killing 10 this year. You are then singlehandedly responsible for cutting the neighborhood murder rate in half.

9. They tell us at the beginning of the year the deficit will be five hundred
billion dollars. then they say it will only be 250 billion so that means they cut it in half. They are not right now nor were they right when they first made their prediction. They have never included monies spent in Iraq or Afghanistan which would double their numbers. Those numbers though are "off budget" The Administration is nothing but a sack of LIES.

13. He also said that...
...if the Democrats win this November, they'll raise taxes.

I am so sick of the "raise taxes" boogeyman. I know it's an effective election cycle ploy but it's so aggravating.

I mean, why don't people understand that you can't raise spending and cut taxes at the same time which is what Bush has been doing since he took office.

Of course we're going to have to raise taxes to clean-up his mess and deficit.

:grr:

12. He's lying...he has included the S177 BILLION in Social Security funds
Don't forget, the SS "trust fund" is still technically running a large surplus. It was published last week that Bush has subtracted that $177 Billion from the REAL deficit in order to come up with a lower figure. He's just lying again. SURPRISE!

But seriously, thanks for pointing this out. It ALL makes sense now (although 'makes sense' is probably not the right phrase...)

17. BOTH parties have been crowing and blowing...
Edited on Wed Oct-11-06 09:00 AM by originalpckelly
Clinton did not have a surplus, and Bush is not about to cut his deficit in half, because both stole from the social security trust fund to fund their deficits.

It is a nasty little trick that people will find when they retire in a about 5+ years. You see they might remember how the President said social security was in trouble, and they might not like the fact that he is stealing from it and making the eventual shortfall even worse.

If you count social security, this nation is so far in the hole that we may actually go bankrupt. And both political parties have been secretly lying to all of us; they are using Enron accounting techniques.

Here is a great article on this terrible lie:

for ALL future retires that paid into the system.

That they steal it to hide the deficit is criminal.

And they made fun of Al Gore promising to lock up that money soit's be usedfor only one thng: securing social security by not stealing it. Criminal cowardly idiots, such as the NYT, laughed at this and called him names..

23. Its true. Of course, he is raiding the SS trust fund to do it.
There was discussion of this last week somewhere on DU. They are using a huge amount of the Social Security trust fund to pay into the general fund.

No one will notice, and next year SSI will be worse off because of it.
