Did mr bush sign the torture bill yet?

If not, why not? Does it usually take this long for the decider to decide to sign a bill? Or is he just on vacation again?

1. Good question.
I thought there was going to be a big celebration. Perhaps they could have a live session from gitmo right after he inks the thing into law. Thmbscrews, waterboards, electrodes to the private parts, some dog torture, perhaps some excrement smearing, it could be quite the show, it might even turn things around for them.

2. Isn't Congress adjourned?
Edited on Mon Oct-09-06 04:09 PM by Solly Mack
A bill becomes law if signed by the President or if not signed within 10 days and Congress is in session.
If Congress adjourns before the 10 days and the President has not signed the bill then it does not become law ("Pocket Veto.")

The bill passed both houses on Sept. 29 - I think it passed the House on the 27th and the Senate on the afternoon of the 29th

It's now October 9th

So safe money says he signed it before or on September 30th when Congress adjourned

4. So... where could I check and see if that happened?
You'd think somebody would report that... wonder what happened, torture fatigue?

9. It's just so odd...
I can't find anything on this. There was a lot of keen interest in this bill, why isn't the result being reported?

3. So when it becomes law do Lynndie English and Charles Graner
walk? Or is the immunity card only for the bigwigs?

6. I thought there were some differences between the House and Senate version
of the bill. Doesn't it have to go to a conference committee then before it goes to the pResident? Did that happen?
