This is purely about perception, but as a smart person once said, perception is everything.
So North Korea has allegedly tested a nuke.
On the news networks, we have today dozens of talking heads, experts, spinmeisters and assorted dreck talking about the situation. The content of the conversation is one thing, but beyond all that is one word.
Nuclear.
Noo-klee-urr.
Everyone, but everyone talking about this on the TV news pronounces the word like that, i.e properly.
Everyone except one man.
They call him George, and during a moment when a lot of people are nervous about nukes and rogue states, he remains utterly unable to pronounce the word properly.
The world looks for leadership, and they're getting "nukular."
Noo-kyoo-lurr.
I hit on this last May:
http://www.truthout.org/docs_2006/050506Z.shtmlYes, it's perception. But after Foley-Abramoff-Iraq-9/11 over the last several days, here was a chance for George to act like a head of state instead of a carnival barker running a tent full of priapic sociopaths.
And he gives us noo-kyoo-lurr, again, surrounded by people who can pronounce the word properly.
In short, he looks dumb.
Again.
