Poll question: Did The Republican Tax Cuts Make Your Life Easier?
All this week, as a counter to Mastergate and its implication in creating a Democratic Congressional majority, Republican talking heads have be touting their tax cuts as a reason why they should maintain control.

Unless you discount their claim that the Democrats plan to raise taxes once they're in power, its one of the few semi-non-fear based talking points that they spew.

I've glossed over some of analyses about the tax cuts, but since I'm no Harvard Business School trained economist, looking at all the numbers makes my head spin.

I will say, however, that according to these analyses, the results at the end run of these tax cuts promises to be far different from what their proponents said.

What else is new?

My question is this... Despite all of macroeconomic mumbo-jumbo spewed by your average tax-cut defending talking head, did those tax cuts personally make your life better?

Simple question. Let's see what the real deal is.

8. Everyday is a struggle to survive and a battle to remain sane.
Sometimes it's just anger that keeps me going, but I do take time to enjoy minor things in life... I ate a big plate of crawfish étouffée today. :9

11. Absolutely.
Those fortunate enough to live off capital gains and dividends in the high-income tax brackets, and those anticipating sizable inheritances, well that's a different story.

15. I suppose the tax cuts did benefit me financially.
At a personal and selfish level, I'm sure the extra disposable income made our lives more enjoyable.

But we were doing quite well without them in 1990s as well, and I would have no problem going back to those levels.

But the point I think you are trying to make is obvious, most of those folks that vote GOP every time never had a chance to benefit from tax cuts of the variety the GOP has delivered.

16. The Republicans' time honored tactic is to appeal to selfishness
Of course

But, when people think out the good of the country vs. their narrow self interest, they reconsider the tax cut's neccesity.

Hence, the call by people like Soros and Buffett to not have the cuts go into effect.
