North Korea conducts nuke test
SEOUL, South Korea - South Korean government officials said North Korea performed its first-ever nuclear weapons test Monday, the South's Yonhap news agency reported.

South Korean officials could not immediately confirm the report.

South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun convened an urgent meeting of security advisers over the issue, Yonhap reported.

The North said last week it would conduct a nuclear test as part of its deterrent against a possible U.S. invasion.

6. Don't give up hope.
It's not as though Iraq is a paradise and bushco* is responsible for that.

13. I don't know
...I think more people will see this as a massive US fuckup than a "lets be afraid and vote Republican" thing...esp. riding so close on the heels of Foley.

5. Rove promised an October Surprise
How long has HE been withholding information about this nuclear test in order to use it for political purposes? Have they put power over national security AGAIN??

(redundent questions, I know)

10. Our intelligence DIDN'T know????
And you would be okay with that? Seriously, that NK was getting ready to test a nuclear weapon and we were just oblivious to it.

Of course they knew. They did nothing because they have no diplomatic ability to stop it, so the best they can do is try to use it to scare the people and stay in power.

17. I don't have trouble believing either scenario
I could picture them suppressing the information, but I can just as easily imagine them being a day late and a dollar short on the whole deal. Especially since it was underground and not a missile sitting in the open.

7. Good Grief, Rove Does NOT Control NK!
This is NOT a Rove surprise. This is a MASSIVE FAILURE OF EPIC PROPORTIONS FOR BUSHCO. This may push Foley out of the news, but it is NOT good for Chimpy or the Repubs. This is a failure of epic proportions on their part. The fucked up, big time and now NK has the bomb, definitively AND missile tech. Major, major fuck up and failure.

11. CNN analyst just stated this was Bush's fault lol
A calculation based upon how Bush reacted to Iraq vs Iran vs Pakistan, etc...

12. This just puts more shit on the shovel.
Shows where the real security emphasis should have been all along. More bush incompetence. More voter anger yet. Just digging in a barnyard. Another reason to throw the rapesters and mafia out.

Ten to one, Foley overtakes this quickly and goes right back to majority news coverage too.
