Were they guilty of anything at all?
Iraq readies to release 424 detainees

BAGHDAD- An Iraqi justice ministry official said 424 detainees were to be freed on Thursday following a review of their cases by a joint Iraqi-US board. These would include five of the eight women known to be held by US forces.

Or were they just kidnapped by our invading army for nothing?

For these folks, freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose.

3. They say the other 3 women
will be released over the next month or so.

Why? Like you said, were they guilty of anything? They weren't sentenced, just there. And I am thinking if they plan to release them all why wait so long? To show terrorists they aren't the boss of us?

If that young journalist dies because we were too proud to let them think they influenced us that is a high crime.

I heard someone on some political show saying the terrorists holding her are not moral and that the Iraqis want the journalist released unharmed...BUT that they are all upset by the women being held in the prisons. That women are held in an esteem that makes holding them very immoral, turns them against Americans all the more. That they all know the rumors of the women being abused and believe they are being held to make their men cooperate.

I'm not saying the women matter more, we have wronged men, women and children there. I guess I just have that journalist on my mind.

5. good point
what's the hold up? Her captor's deadline passed. Now would be a good time to release these women as we can't even find anything to charge them with.

7. Actually by the time of the deadline would have pleased me.
So far I haven't read anything about Iraqi's torturing any of their captives, only murder.

4. oh not for nothing
most of them probably threw rocks or shoes at their "liberators" or made some angry statements getting up in the faces of some GIs. It was just bad luck or incomplete paperwork that led to them being indefinitely detained. People who stick up get taken down. Example setting: it's how we secure a population of friendly natives.

6. You are either with us,
or against us. The President even said so. While incarcerated, they they experienced freedom. A small price to pay for democracy.
