What Is The Undisclosed Wrongdoing That Has Repubs Scared To Death?
... I keep hearing that there are other disclosures out there about other members of Congress that have so many Repubs worried. The suggestion that the Page Program be shut down, and members sent back home raised some concerns about why you would do that when pages have not been alleged to have committed any wrongdoing in regard to Representatives like Foley.

There has been a public silence from Repubs regarding other possible disclosures. How many have gone on the record and called for a full disclosure of any other incidents with members of Congress and their staffs, other than this Foley matter? If not, why not?

It is still about protecting the children, right?

There have been reports that House Republicans have been having conference calls where all kinds of questions are being asked and discussed among themselves, but so far there are few reports of what individual Republicans have said or recommended.

The silence about other possible indiscretions might lead one to ask if there is not yet another 'shoe left to drop' in this matter.

1. Bet you $100...

....if they start looking at computers - like on Foley's - they'll find child porn. Now that IS a federal offense.

7. If FBI is involved
I don't see any reason why they WOULDN'T be looking at Foley's computers.

With AG Alberto Gonzales don't be too sure anything will be done about it.

12. If the FBI is involved, THAT is why they wouldn't be looking at
the computers. While I'm sure there are good agents out their trying to do their jobs, the command levels of the agency these days is a crony-staffed bureaucracy whose primary mission is to cover up the crimes of the administration.

18. Even better, subpeona the server logs
which should be date and time stamped with information on which work station on the network logged onto which sites, when and for how long. The logs should also give information on how much data has been downloaded by any, one user. Presumably, the logs are backed up in the same way any responsible organisation would operate a sound IT policy.

The physical evidence on the drives might not be recoverable if the users have access to nifty, overwrite software. Falsifying the logs is an entirely different matter that requires high level sysadmin access rights.

....I don't care what he wrote. If he's got pictures of children on his computer, he'll get 10 years in prison probably.

24. Sure, if you think that IT governance is even on the radar.
Remember the missing emails from Rove during the Plame investigation? I looked into the White House's exposure on this and found that their data retention policies are clearly not being adhered to.

Key words in your post are "responsible organization".

3. It was recently suggested on CNN that there are pictures.
Also on CNN and Randi, allegations were made that Gonzales and Ashcroft put the kibosh on the FBI investigating the e-mail(s?) CREW sent to them. I haven't heard anything about that since, but if
that happened, it would show how big a cover-up this could be.

will be reported by a Page.

10. The Tip Line Gives Repubs First Shot To Encourage Silence....
...make no mistake here. THere was no promise that all calls into the tip line would be shared with Democratic Representatives. If a page called in about a Repub Representative, I am sure the first piece of advice they would give is to remain silent, they will protect their identity and take care of it without dragging them into it. At that point the complaint has been registered by the page, the report is deep sixed, and no one else is the wiser.

8. I think they're mainly afraid because ...
congress is out of session and they're supposed to be home facing their constituants and in some cases, campaigning.

If I had to face the voters with this over your head, I'd be scared too. You certainly wouldn't admit to any wormgdoing and saying you're not part of it sounds like a denial. And of course, if you really cared, then what are you doing here and not in DC doing something about it?

14. Here you go. Its called the Lavender Bund
http://billmon.org/archives/002795.html

A snip:

Speaking of crazy ideas, there's another conspiracy theory going around -- fundamentalist politico Tony Perkins was apparently spinning it to CBS News last night -- to the effect that the Foley cover up was perpetrated by a secret cabal of gay GOP House members and staffers. Some have speculated that this is or will soon be a Rovian line of defense.

I seriously, seriously doubt it, because this particular conspiracy theory doesn't help the Republicans one bit -- in fact, it strikes right to the heart of why this scandal is so dangerous for them.

We all know there are a number of gay GOP members and senior staffers on the Hill and in the administration -- just as there are in any other organization in any other society on the planet, even the Wahhabi motherland.

Osama: I should have known something funny was going on when I caught Zarqawi with all those Will & Grace DVDs!

David Corn says he even has a copy of a list that's circulating in Washington. In my day (the '80s) we didn't have a list, but the gay GOP underground in DC did have a name, one that as far as I know the members invented for themselves: the Lavender Bund. That ironic sensibility, you know.

The dam is bursting.

27. David Dreier, Lindsay Graham...just two who would lose their seats
You know there are more. Maybe many more. Then they'll go after the staffers, and there are TONS of gay repuke staffers. There's probably a year's worth of headlines, given that the GOP actually CARES if a staff member likes guys. They must have known all this homophobia would come back to bite them, but they're such arrogant pigs, they thought they were immune from the hate they promoted.

17. There is gonna be pics..nudie pics
somewhere...of underage kids....and of Foley, and maybe of some other folks.

That is my call anyway....and god knows how many computers they were emailed to.

My guess also is that people OUTSIDE the Repub party have them, and are sitting on them, waiting for the right moment. And the Repubs have no control over those people, and have no idea when the second wave of shit storm will hit. AND...someone will be able to PROVE the Repubs knew about this in advance.

No matter who it is nowadays, people remember Dan Rather, even the regular guys...no one will make mistakes or overlook anything on the second wave.

I hope to hell I am wrong BECAUSE of the minor children, but my secret UH OH alarm keeps going off.

23. Sex Scandal Secrets in D.C. are like the Cold War, both sides know enough
about the secret peccadillos of the other that they each have the other over a barrel. The concept of mutually assured destruction which held US/USSR nuclear weapons at bay. Each side was deterred from taking action because to do so was to expose their own secrets.

However, in this environment, it is clear that Repubs have been in power for over 6 six years with Bush, and the arrogance and excess that comes with unchecked power leads people to believe they are invincible, and do things that are publicly discoverable.

That is why I think Repubs are so worried. There is SO MUCH already out there, just imagine what remains to be disclosed because it is so much worse than what we already know.
