I think Olbermann is preparing Americans for a Bush impeachment
He knows its coming and that many Americans fear a constitutional crisis. But he also knows that Bush is insane and must and will be be removed as soon as humanly possible. He is preparing those who may be afraid of such a thing.

Lets face it. Having a president who says he consulted god before going on his maniacal killing spree in Iraq cannot be sane. I realize that is a damn scary thought. But we have to face the facts here. Olbermann is helping people face up to the truth.

4. Correct. If bush had said that he consulted Zeus before invading Iraq
Edited on Fri Oct-06-06 09:48 AM by stopbush
even the Xians & hardcore Rs would say he was crazy. But saying that you talk to
the imaginary-god-de-jour is just fine.

6. Well, I personally wouldn't believe him if he said Zeus told him to do it.
Zeus has mellowed over the years and wouldn't demand anything like that these days. That crazy Jehovah, though...

Guy had more demigods running around than you could count. My wife's family is so big I suspect there's a Zeus spawn in it somewhere. B-)

5. The Constitution must be protected above all else. It is the document
that defines our country, lays out the principles on which our country was founded, and has guided the leaders for hundreds of years. Only now, we have a pResident who does not respect this document. In fact, he despises it and all it stands for.

Given the opportunity, Bush would declare it invalid and name himself Dictator. He's already said as much, in a joking manner, but there's usually a hint of truth in words spoken in jest.

If protecting the Constitution throws the country into troubled times, it must be done. If impeaching the pResident creates issues for our legislators, so be it. We must uphold the Constitution and what it stands for, no matter what.

We've been through difficult times before as a country, and we survived. We can do it again. But those who would defy the document that sets the standard for America must be held responsible and accountable for their actions in defiance of the Constitution. Regardless of the repercussions, we must take steps to protect and preserve our freedoms and our rights for future generations.

10. His 'Special Commentary' made me weep with gratitude last night.
I felt SO silly. I think things have gotten to the point where after watching the Bush Cabal get away with outrage piled upon outrage, without EVER being called on it, that when someone breaks away from the herd and TELLS THE TRUTH, it seems a miracle.

11. I work in the mental health field
and I assess people in mental health crisis. That is if they are suicidal, homicidal or acutely psychotic. I've committed people to the hospital for being hyperreligous. That's a psychotic symptom. Anyone saying god talks to them is having delusions of grandeur and auditory hallucinations. If I saw * in our psych triage, he'd have a one-way ticket to the state institution.

12. Well I'm prepared, but we can't just count on
sex scandals, his insanity, the upcoming elections. So we still have to keep fighting on all levels.
Consortiumnews.com ran an article expressing concerns that they may just kncok him off the air. these guys are so ruthless- I am truely concerned for his welfare even. Hopefully his immense popularity will protect him. He is one of our genuine heros. IMHO.

14. Agreed. A most important task, as well...
Making us see the awful truth, making us face it, and DO something about it; and making us realize we CAN get through it, and it will make us - America - stronger.

Every day I'm thanking all the Gods and Goddesses for KO!

17. Well, if that's true (that Olbermann has some inside knowledge that Bush
will be impeached), then we had all better take a second look at this Hastert/Foley scandal, and bone up on presidential succession. Hastert is 3rd in line, and there seems to be a concerted effort of the Pukes and their war profiteering corporate news monopolies to remove him. Who among us can name the next in line after Hastert (presuming Cheney goes, too)? It's President Pro Tem of the Senate, I believe--but I'll be damned if I can name him. Also, who might the Pukes put INTO a successor position, if B/C are out? And/or, who might the War Democrats and the Bushites agree on?

A lot of us have smelled something beneath the page scandal. This may be it. An establishment effort to save the war machine and corporate rule, in the face of some as yet undisclosed "smoking gun" on Bush/Cheney (9/11? the war? Plamegate? stolen election II? molesting boys?). The effort goes something like this: a) pass the torture/suspension of habeas corpus bill to bar war crimes liability for Bush/Cheney; b) their agreement (in exchange) to step down (or be impeached on lesser charges); c) meanwhile, remove obviously corrupt (or complicit on big crimes) House leader next in line of succession (Hastert); d) choose someone mutually acceptable to both sides of the aisle in the Diebold Congress, perhaps a caretaker president (but only perhaps, could be someone with Iran war ambitions). Calm things down. Reveal as little as possible of the grievous stench in DC. And (if the overall purpose is Iran) get on with stealing Mideast oil.

The torture bill was odd, now that I think of it. I was going to say that I didn't think that Bush/Cheney have the political credit any more to get a Draft (badly needed cannon fodder if Iran is next). So (to get Iran underway), have the war profiteers decided B/C must go, and someone must be installed who CAN get a Draft? But then...if that's true, then where did B/C get the political credit to pass a torture bill? It doesn't add up very well--unless the torture bill was part of a deal to get B/C out!

Another factor in all this are the elections, or I should say (s)elections. With Diebold/ES&S "counting" all the votes with TRADE SECRET, PROPRIETARY programming code, we're not going to get a true reflection of the American people, but Pukes are in such disrepute that even Diebold/ES&S may not be able to save their Congressional majority (Diebold/ES&S are also under much greater scrutiny now than they were in 2004), and we might get a Democratic House or Senate or both. But it still won't reflect the anti-war, anti-torture, anti-tax cuts for the rich, and anti-Puke everything sentiment in the country. It will be a Pukish sort of Democratic Congress--Diebold Congress II, the Corporatists (--and possibly Diebold Congress II, the invaders of Iran).

We might get some blows to the poor softened here (minimum wage increase, better if not universal health care, and an end of this rightwing religious insanity in government), but since the war in the Mideast has always been a corporate oil war, and since these sort of Democrats are as tied to the military-industrial complex as Bushites ever were (--maybe with a bit more sense of accountability and budget restraint, and less looting), we may not get a whole lot of what we want, no matter what happens. BUT--and this was my main point--a Democratic majority in either house, of whatever stripe of Democrat, WILL mean SOME investigations, of Bush/Cheney money handling and possibly of other crimes. And THIS may be what brought about the compromise to oust B/C, if that's what has happened. The Democrats already have a "smoking gun." And they are likely going to gain control of at least one house. The rumblings in the military and in the intelligence community also point to such a deal. Those professionals are extremely unhappy with B/C and Rumsfeld (whom Bush doesn't have the power to fire, and who may have such blackmail goods on Cheney, that Cheney can't fire him either). A change of administrations is needed. That's what's happening.

An interesting theory, huh?

What do you all think?

23. Impeachment would not happen
unless there is a Democratic Congress. a Democratic controlled House of Representives means Speaker Nancy Pelosi. She would be in the line of succession, not Dennis Hastert.

19. I don't think we'll ever see it happen.
Frankly, the powers that be, upon realizing he's lost his usefulness as a puppet, will turn him into a martyr, leaving us with President Cheney, VP Rice, then in 08 Cheney will step aside and Rice will be a shoe-in running on the martyred president's memory.

OK, I'm a little pessimistic today.
