Page scandal reaches U.S. Rep. Sue Kelly (NY 19th) . . .
http://www.thejournalnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061005/NEWS10/610050359/1026/NEWS10

The scandal involving former Rep. Mark Foley's sexually explicit e-mail messages to underage male pages has reached the race in the 19th Congressional District.

Rep. Sue Kelly, R-Katonah, who served as chairwoman of the pages more than five years ago, was questioned by her Democratic challenger John Hall yesterday as to what she might have known about Foley's improper overtures.

"Rep. Foley's perverse actions may have taken place under Sue Kelly's watch," Hall said in a press release. "When it seems that so many others knew of Foley's lewd and entirely inappropriate behavior, why didn't Sue Kelly?" Hall continued. "And if she did know, why didn't she do anything to protect these children?"

(snip)

Kelly said she couldn't remember the exact years of her service, but Salley M. Collins, a spokewoman for the Committee on House Administration, said in an e-mail yesterday that Kelly served as chairwoman from 1998 to 2000.

2. Go John, go.
I'd love to see John Hall replace Kelly in this district. Here's hoping.

7. Might as well add Curt Weldon while we're at it!
For those of you who might confuse these two paragons of Republicanism:

Dave Weldon is the Florida Congressman who sponsored the bill to make Terri Schiavo's situation a federal case. His opponent is Bob Bowman: http://www.bowman2006.com/

Curt Weldon is the Pennsylvania Congressman who attended the "coronation" of Sun Myung Moon and who was just named by the Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington as one of its "20 Most Corrupt Members of Congress". His opponent is Joe Sestak: http://www.sestakforcongress.com/

8. is there a reason this isn't appearing on the "Greatest" page . . .
not because I started the thread, but because it's something that I'd sure like more people to see . . . and maybe encourage some campaign contributions to John Hall . . . the thread has nine votes, so shouldn't it be bumped up? . . .

we have a real chance for an unexpected pick-up here . . . let's give John all the coverage we can . . .
