IMPEACH THEM NOW: It only takes ONE STATE!!!
A high crime is one which seeks the overthrow of the country, which gives aid or comfort to its enemies, or which injures the country to the profit of an individual or group.

On December 10, 1903 William B. Lamar, US Congressional Representative for the 3rd district of Florida, rose on the floor of the house and delivered before Congress articles of impeachment, prepared and resolved by both houses of the legislature of Florida, alleging high crimes and misdemeanors by a Federal Judge, Charles Swayne.
Swayne was ultimately acquitted, but strong precedent was established for a State to initiate impeachment proceedings, as clearly outlined in the House Rules of the 109th Congress

15. isn't that in the form of a memorial though?
memorials are only suggestions unless I am mistaken, which is very possible. (I'm logging off so sorry if I don't respond again)

14. Considering what this heckuvaministration has done to them,
I'd be willing to let Louisiana -- or Mississippi -- have the honor.

But, just for poetic justice, Texas or Wyoming would be good, too -- for besmirching their good names.

But I'm not picky -- any state will do just as well.

I fully support it happening after that as we have more of a chance to have the majority.

who takes care of DC anyway? the mayor? No wonder it's in such bad shape. It's shameful to have our nation's capital overrun by crime.

29. I vote for MASS !! My own state. Why ?
We are solidly blue, but often vote for republican governors to balance out the 'liberal-ness' of our legislature. We like the social safety-net stuff, but many here don't like all the gun regulations and I know I'm kinda pissed off at the new seat-belt law (seems to me it should be your choice to take the risk). So, we like to mix it up, and generally we hope for a libertarian style republican....but instead, we got stuck with Romney. We got fooled with his good looks and charm. But the minute an opportunity to run for preznit comes up, the guy does a hard right turn on social issues. And boy, people from this state hate that social conservatism and religious crap. Sure, we have our Christo-fascists, but they are the clear minority and they know it. Our dems put gay marriage on their platform to support (I am right behind them there). Both democratic gubernatorial candidates are behind gay marriage (even the more conservative Irish guy...Reilly).

So...there is backlash here against repubs here in general. We're tired of our Senators being belittled in the media...or ignored. Our governor showed his true colors. I think most are just sick of the GOP. There is no doubt in my mind that our woman Lt Gov, Kerry Healy, will struggle with the back lash from Romney (she even fought him on some of the issues) and the backlash from Bush.

We are sick of republicans....our legislature is liberal enough.....so why not MASS ??

30. States should do this NOW...and when we take the House in the mid-terms...
...we can do this on the Federal level.

No reason to wait...it's marginally possible we may be in WWIII by November.

31. Sorry, but this doesn't change a damn thing
Getting a state to pass a resolution calling for impeachment doesn't alter the process or create any shortcuts. A member of Congress standing up and presenting a resolution from a state legislature is no different than a member of Congress standing up and introducing a resolution calling for impeachment. In either case, the matter will be referred to the House Judiciary Committee where, so long as the Congress is controlled by the repubs, it will die. Don't believe me? When Lamar introduced the articles of impeachment against Judge Swayne, they were referred to the House Judiciary Committee which then issued a report recommending articles of impeachment which were then adopted by the full House. There was no more requirement for the Committee to act than there would've been had Lamar simply introduced a resolution directly.
