Jury: Hormone replacement pills caused breast cancer
Another type of "femicide"?

Wyeth's menopause drugs caused a woman's breast cancer, and she deserves $1.5 million in damages, jurors decided in the drugmaker's first loss over the medicines.

A Common Pleas Court jury in Philadelphia deliberated more than four days before finding Wyeth's hormone-replacement drugs Prempro and Premarin were a cause of the cancer of Jennie Nelson, 67, of Dayton, Ohio. She testified she took the drugs for six years starting in 1995.
...

Nelson's attorneys argued that they had produced scientific evidence linking Prempro and Premarin to breast cancer and that Nelson deserved payment for the pain and suffering she endured during treatments. Nelson eventually had both breasts removed as part of the treatment.

...

In 2002, the Women's Health Initiative study, sponsored by the National Institutes of Health, concluded that women who received a combination of estrogen and progestin, as found in Prempro, had a 24 percent higher risk of invasive breast cancer.
