China tweaks blend of U.S. bond holdings

BEIJING, China (UPI) -- Chinese government authorities are cutting the proportion of U.S. government bonds they keep in the nation`s portfolio.

By last November, China held $249.9 billion worth of U.S. government bonds accounting for 31.45 percent of foreign reserves, the Shanghai Daily said Monday. The balance of the bonds was $58 billion more than the same period a year ago.

By this month, China held $223.5 billion of U.S. government bonds, accounting for 35.84 percent of the country`s foreign exchange reserves.

but I've been reading a lot of news about China reducing holdings in US dollars since before Christmas. I'm afraid an economic crash is coming.
