I remember thinking, "All we need now is for Jeff Gannon to pop up. The gay community in D.C. can't be so huge that Foley and Gannon have never met...have no common friends, etc."

There might be some fuel to this one.

Seems to me the GOP overall is much worse when it comes to sex scandals. Whatever happened to Hookergate? That seems to have dropped off most radar screens. Perhaps this will revive it.

All the spying got the goods on a lot of people in DC, Dem and Pug alike. That is how BushCo gets them to do their bidding. That's why you have Dems who vote so un-Dem. So, it could be that Foley screwed up and did something they didn't approve or they needed a diversion...

That's why they don't want anyone to know the details of the spying. This gives them a lot of control over people and it gives them perfect news stories to use as diversion.

What's been going on while we are all looking at Foley?

...unless there is something Repubs can do for Foley regarding criminal charges, Foley has nothing to lose by spilling what he knows about other Representatives on the Hill.
