.. two seperate divisions. Wouldn't suprise me if ABCNews has broken the Foley story to give ABCEntertainment a big finger for the 9/11 Bullshit.

1. Yes, and Brian Ross was one of the first reporters to stand up to the *
administration about the wiretapping of American citizens. I believe he publicly stated that he was threatened, that they'd eavesdrop on him if he covered some other story they wanted buried. Can't remember the exact story, anyone know?

2. I suspect this too, Rosco T
But, having said this, ABCNEWS is not as independent as we should demand--having run stories that truly ENABLED (falsely) the Pathway to 9/11 bullshit.

Brian Ross is one of the best (and sadly, last) of the true investigative reporters. I've never felt good about hurting him, however indirectly, by our ABC/Disney boycotts.

4. Bingo!
You've hit the nail on the head.
Support ABC News. Do *not* support ABC Entertainment, including Disney.

5. I don't care
College football (selected games only) is all that I watch on ABC/ESPN/Disney. Ok ok, MLB playoffs, but sports only. ABC/Disney went over the top and not patronizing them is the only weapon we have. Screw 'em.

7. hot topics
It's getting harder and harder to differentiate between news and entertainment these days. Maybe we should just call it infotainment, that way no one has to be to concerned about documentation and all the other tedious details that go into real news coverage. After all we've had "docu-dramas' now for years.
On a serious note though, the torrent of information, news, entertainment and undifferentiated "content" we are now treated to in all the media (just what we need: cell phine television) tends to homogenize current events into a thick soup of sensory input which has a deadening effect on the collective consciousness, don't you think?
On top of all that we have an administration that brags that it "creates its own reality". I think this used to be called PROPAGANDA.
It takes a lot of effort to sift through this Niagra of factoids in order to discern the underlying reality. For most komrade citizens its easier to just accept the standard model and go with the flow. I think the DU crowd is at least trying to maintain a grip on the "collective hunch" we call reality.
