3. If ever I had a few, I didn't crave teens or turn into an anti-Semite
Foley and Gibson would have us believe that booze totally changes one's innermost person.

13. Exactly. It's a fascinating insight to inhibitions and repression.
All the time I drank, my personality never changed. From the time I was a teen-ager, I was appalled that people used booze as some excuse to "lower their inhibitions" and become abusive, bigoted, or malicious. Did that mean they harbored all those attitudes and just kept them secret? I resolved way back then that I'd never bottle up such crap.

There are apparently a lot of people walking around just one drink away from murder.

It's scarey.

2. The Devil makes them do it...
Demon Rum, etc.

Gosh, I guess that gives us all an air-tight alibi! Let's all go screw around on our husbands, wives, SO's, etc... then hit the rehab and all will be well!

Yeah, that will fly!

NOT!

6. I can't think of his name, Bob something.
He got caught years ago groping women. Ran off to rehab even though I never heard anything about a drinking problem until the women brought a complaint against him.

And foley would have us believe that a few belts & he wants to prey on teenage boys.

8. Always
Its became the most favored option, frankly I'd love to see a few of these bastards doing their sobering up and repenting in the crossbar hotel.
if it's good enough for us poor and common folk then it's good enough for the blue bloods.

9. Like it was Alcohol, not Foley, that was responsible for his actions.
Bullshit.

Going into alcohol rehab and making it public is a method of "Deviance Disavowal"; "I'm not a deviant, the alcohol made me do it." It's a smokescreen, an avoidance of personal responsibility for the unacceptable behavior. He may even have deliberately gotten drunk Knowing it would "allow" him to pursue urges he was struggling with. (That's a massive "benefit of the doubt" I'm giving him there.)

He belongs in a sexual offender program, as well as AA, if indeed he even has a drinking problem. A Sexual Offender program wouldn't let him get away with that bullshit of blaming the alcohol.
