DUBAI (Reuters) - Al Qaeda deputy leader Ayman al-Zawahri called President Bush a "lying failure" for saying progress had been made in the war on terrorism, according to a video posted on the Internet on Friday.

"Bush you are a lying failure and a charlatan. It has been 3 and-a-half years (since the arrests)...What happened to us? We have gained more strength and we are more insistant on martyrdom," the Egyptian militant leader said.

This sounds like someone is feeding Zawahri the lines from the latest Moveon.org talking points. While he certainly is right, does anyone else think this might be contrived to make Zawahri sound like "Democrats" in order to further frame the party as terrorist sympathizers or "weak on terror"?

I know I've grown cynical over the past few years, but just like the 2004 tape right before the election, I don't put anything past this bunch.
