I did a google news search on "DEMS" and got 3370 hits.

I did a google news search on "REPUBS" and got just 33 hits.

6. I've been using Dems because I'm still not sure whether it's
democratic or democrat. I've read that the use of democrat instead of democratic is sullying the name somehow but I don't see how as I've never perceived "democrat" as derogatory. I've always voted democrat . . . ic and have always felt that it was the party that best represented my ideals.
