I am sick of those who "keep the powder dry"...for the "next fight".

If you can't stand up against something that is just so absolutely awful ..like torture...you are a spineless wimp or a freaking lunatic.

Do they realize what they have done to our country?

What degradation will be next?

2. That is it in a nutshell...
if you can't go to your constituents and convince them that torture is BAD for our country and Constitution, you are utterly usless and need to go, ASAP.

3. What took you so long? There are still dems who want to sit on their hand
hands and do and say nothing until the bush admin has so utterly destroyed this country that even the most hardcore repuke will decide to vote dem. That's a heck of a strategy.

6. No shit!...Does anyone think the wuss-dems will vote for investigations?
Even if we take the House, the Senate, or both, if the wuss-dems can't stop triangulating long enough to vote against torture, does anyone think they are going to vote for investigating the fascists, or to begin impeachment proceedings?

21. The wuss dems don't have to the other 168 will.
That's the reason these kind of rants make no sense. Can you honestly say that punishing a few dems is worth handing congress over to bush for another two years?

9. I can't understand why Dems have been...
...keeping their mouths shut for so long.

Even now during the election season they're not saying anything. If they’re waiting for closer to the elections to say something, people will say it's just political talk.

Average Americans like us have known for years about the war profiteering that has going on. Now the Halliburton Movie will be coming out.... Most Americans will think Democrats are just as bad as republicans because they allowed Bush to ruin America.

10. You need to get over it. The battle was lost long before the vote.
the issue was successfully framed as something to hammer dems in November. I can hear the commercials now. Remember, most people who vote aren't as engrossed in these issues as we are and could be easily tricked into voting against their own interests again.

Even having these Democrats in the majority will still be better than repukes. Can't you see we are being divided and conquered? Continuing to whine about it only helps the Terrorists... in the Whitehouse.

Time to don my asbestos suit...

14. I wrote my Senator Debbie Stabenow as follows:
I have been a life long Democrat and I voted for you last time and I will likely vote for you again this time. But I have lost a lot of respect for you because of your recent vote for the torture bill. I know it is because you did not want to appear weak on terror just before the election. The administration has terrorized you!!

Those worn out canards are so overused they're laughable, yet the blind loyalists use them over and over and will continue doing so.

24. actually I am someone who has put a lot of time into the party
and I have a right to complain...

for example, I worked for the actual democrat who ran against Casey in the primary here in PA and then despite the assholes who thought I should go along with Casey in the primary...(even though he sucks on things like women's rights)...I am actually helping the Casey campaign...

and you know what...I have found that NONE of the people who said they would help that campaign actually show up to phone bank or help...and yet here I am helping a candidate who would have confirmed Alito, who is against choice and who is actually a bit too timid to be in politics but the big mouths are no where to be found....and yet there I am...helping out someone that I don't even freaking like...and I am getting pretty freaking sick of it.

so screw anyone who says I don't have a right to complain.

28. You have every right to complain.
You, like the rest of us have been let down. We write letters to newspapers, e-mail politicians, donate money, we give ideas, we do what we can to support our party. You do more than most of us.

We all consider coming to a message board to talk about our party as an ENJOYABLE pastime!

If we don’t have the right to complain, then who does?

I don’t ever want to be like the repukes who blindly support Bush.

23. Torture isn't even half of what's wrong with this law!
This isn't about whether we are or are not too squeamish to waterboard terrorists, folks. Everybody hates terrorists. Nobody wants to coddle them. Sure, many of us don't think torture should ever be legal, for many reasons including the potential for even worse abuses than those that we've already seen at Abu Ghraib and the fact that the information gleaned from this sort of questioning is almost never reliable. But the torture aspects of this bill are no more than the sensationalistic cover story for a wide ranging assault on the fundamental rights of US citizens (as well as all other human beings in the world).

This is about the same people who told us the best way to fight terrorism was to start a war that had nothing to do with it now telling us that we all have to give up our basic right to a fair and speedy trial at the whim of our monarchical executive. This bill reverses over 790 years of Anglo Saxon legal tradition starting with the Magna Carta and extending through our revered Constitution and Bill of Rights.

25. Kickin' the minority party when they're down.
NICE.

I understand the anger and horror over yesterdays vote but MANY MANY MANY more Dems voted against this horrific bill than for.

Come November maybe if enough of us get out and vote we can help them to not have to put up with this shit any longer.
Come November maybe we can make it so they have a voice in our Government.

Come November maybe if we VOTE for DEMOCRATS we can STOP this kinda of horrific bill from coming to the floor in the first place.
