Blame it on Iraq

A US intelligence report has warned the Bush administration that the war in Iraq is fuelling global terrorism and has alarmingly increased the terror threat to America. The New York Times has published excerpts of the assessment of international terrorism by US intelligence agencies. According to the classified document, the US invasion and occupation of Iraq has spawned a new generation of radicalism in the Arab and Muslim world.

In fact, thanks to Iraq, threat from extremist groups such as Al Qaeda, rather than being decreased — as President Bush would have us believe — has increased manifold. "The Iraq war has made the overall terrorism problem worse," emphasises the report. snip

This exalted status of America is now undermined and threatened, thanks to the neocons and powerful lobbyists who have taken over the control of the US establishment. The neocons now not only enjoy unlimited power over all wings of power, but they have come to control and manipulate the powerful US media too.

This does not augur well for the health and future of US democracy. This should be a source of grave concern to the Americans as well as the rest of the world. For what affects America will invariably affect the rest of the world.
