CondiLiar Caught in a WHOPPER of a LIE! Clarke WAS Demoted by HER!
Edited on Tue Sep-26-06 08:30 AM by leftchick
Well Before Sept. 11, 2001! Liar Liar Liar.....

<snip>

"We were not left a comprehensive strategy to fight al-Qaida," she told the newspaper, which is owned by News Corp., which also owns Fox News Channel.

In the TV interview, Clinton accused host Chris Wallace of a "conservative hit job" and asked: "I want to know how many people in the Bush administration you asked, 'Why didn't you do anything about the Cole?' I want to know how many people you asked, 'Why did you fire Dick Clarke?'"

He was referring to the USS Cole, attacked by terrorists in Yemen in 2000, and former White House anti-terrorism chief Richard A. Clarke.

Rice said Clarke "left when he did not become deputy director of homeland security

OH REALLY CONDI???....

http://mediamatters.org/items/200609260001

<snip>

In making the claim, MacCallum appeared to be confusing Clarke's reassignment in October 2001 -- from counterterrorism czar to cyber security adviser -- with his demotion immediately after Bush took office. Clarke explains in his book, Against All Enemies: Inside America's War on Terror (Free Press, March 2004), that then-national security adviser Condoleezza Rice immediately "downgraded" his position in January 2001, excluding him from the regular meetings of the National Security Council's (NSC) Principals Committee. From Clarke's book:

Rice decided that the position of National Coordinator for Counterterrorism would also be downgraded. No longer would the Coordinator be a member of the Principals Committee. No longer would the CSG report to the Principals, but instead to a committee of Deputy Secretaries. No longer would the National Coordinator be supported by two NSC Senior Directors or have the budget review mechanism with the Associate Director of OMB . She did, however, ask me to stay on and to keep my entire staff in place. Rice and Hadley did not seem to know anyone else whose expertise covered what they regarded as my strange portfolio. At the same time, Rice requested that I develop a reorganization plan to spin out some of the security functions to someplace outside the NSC staff.

No longer a "principal" himself, Clarke had to lobby Rice and others to organize a meeting of the Principals Committee on the Al Qaeda threat. But nearly eight months passed before the meeting finally occurred -- a week before September 11, 2001.

Our big terrorist attack came with Bush. I am sure they, ben Laden, could see what it would do to our nuts in DC and for keeping us safe I would not count on this group of screwballs. If people from the Middle East are not coming over from Mex. I will eat my hat.

6. Here's the plan that was left (from Maddezmom's post)-
Also attached to the original Clarke memo are two Clinton-era documents relating to al-Qaeda. The first, "Tab A December 2000 Paper: Strategy for Eliminating the Threat from the Jihadist Networks of al-Qida: Status and Prospects," was released to the National Security Archive along with the Clarke memo. "Tab B, September 1998 Paper: Pol-Mil Plan for al-Qida," also known as the Delenda Plan, was attached to the original memo, but was not released to the Archive and remains under request with the National Security Council.

7. "What we did in the eight months was at least as aggressive..." - Condi
"What we did in the eight months was at least as aggressive as what the Clinton administration did in the preceding years," Rice said Monday during a meeting with editors and reporters at the New York Post."
...
The notion somehow for eight months the Bush administration sat there and didn't do that is just flatly false — and I think the 9/11 commission understood that," she said."

Pre-9/11: Not firing 1 f*cking shotgun shell at an Al Qaeda type after the CIA/FBI CONFIRMED that A.Q. was responsible for bombing the USS Cole... she calls *that* doing more than Bill Clinton, who launched cruise missiles at their camps and had subs ready to fire more as soon as Bin Laden's location could be confirmed??

Pre-9/11: Does she call being "aggressive" calling off those same subs that were to kill Bin Laden after Bush & Co. took office?

Post 9/11: Does she call being "aggressive" calling off the Army Rangers and other Special Operations troops out of Afghanistan *before* they had a shot to capture or kill Bin Laden??

This woman is a liar at best, and a traitor at worst. With her IN CHARGE OF NATIONAL SECURITY we civilians got hit harder than Pearl Harbor and she did not so much as utter a "my bad".

9. The 9-11 commission
Ultimately framed 9-11 as a "failure of imagination". That should be carved on Condi's tombstone.

Her picture should also appear next to that phrase in the dictionary.

That is, if phrases are even included in your typical dictionary.

Oh sure, they are misogynist and racist. But these people are seriously crazy too. It's a kind of denial called reaction formation, where you embrace the opposite of your true beliefs. This was going around after the 2004 election.

10. Just Another Example Of Rice Prevarication & Incompetence...
... I remain amazed that Repubs somehow believe Rice is the perfect choice to succeed Bush.

She is not prone to consistently telling the truth about any issue that brings her decisionmaking into question, or holds anyone else in this Administration accountable.

She is clearly incompetent as far as performing her job responsibilities. She brings no counterweight to the NeoCon point of view, unlike her predecessor Colin Powell.

She turned on the very people who mentored her, and seeks no advice that does not support her view of the facts and circumstances fed to her by Cheney/NeoCons.

I think her best quality is shoe shopping. Her second best quality is saying yes to anything her "husband"(Bush) wants her to do.

As a country we can do better. Much better. And if she decides to throw her hat into the Presidential Candidate Ring, she will be exposed in ways that Drudge and Fox News have yet to imagine. In fact, it could be the best gift Democrats could receive.

11. I think she gets a pass because she's female.
In RW-land, only men are truly accountable for what they do or say. If Condi does anything, it is assumed that she is doing the bidding of some man and not held to account. So she gets away with it all! She is an incompetent sec. of state--all the officials in Europe secretly agree amongst themselves, I've read.

Time to get her to step up and explain herself and her abysmal record.

Why 9/11 happened: Bush curtailed Operation CATCHERS MITT
by leveymg
Mon Sep 11, 2006 at 07:51:17 AM PDT
The Bush Administration cancelled or cut back Operation CATCHERS MITT, the highly classified ongoing CIA and FBI operation that tracked al-Qaeda operatives known to be inside the U.S. during the summer of 2001. This was done without notifying the existing counter-terrorism policy board in Washington, then headed by Richard Clarke, a Clinton holdover.

This fatal decision by Bush's national security staff was part of the planned revamping of the Clinton counter-terrorism program, and ongoing operations were put on hold or cut off entirely while Rice and Hadley worked with CIA Director Tenet on the Administration's new al-Qaeda strategy.

SNIP

This raises the question, what info did Condi and the NSC Principals continue to get about surveillance of al-Qaeda cells that Clarke no longer had access to during the summer of 2001?

33. There's so much info out there. The 9/11
conspiracy really hides beneith a mountain of facts that are already on the public record.

Only recently have the Dems started to try to simplify and create their own alternative narrative -- even now, it's only a reaction to the deperate attacks by the Bushites and the GOP Right. We'd be a lot further along if this process of pointing out the Administration's lies had started in earnest on 9/12.

The Dem strategists who shut every effort to criticize the Administration's narrative -- Carville and Shrum -- should be given a hanky, a last smoke, and a wall to rest up against.

he will ask her, and he'll start to put up a fight, but when he could really be agressive, he backs down and lets them off. WHY? My Mom, a big liberal, likes Tim, and says he's nice, and he has his moments, but man, he could actually be GOOD if he grew some courage instead of just being super smart.
And, MAN, does Condi look like a man!

After reading this, I have more disgust with her than EVER. I used to say, "you know (whoever I was talking to), Condi is in charge of National Security. Do you think she actually DOES anything?", then she got "promoted" to Sec. of State. I like to think she got demoted to it, because right now, someone that actually has a brain should be in that position, glad we have it in Hadley, oh wait.... On July 22, 2003, Hadley offered his resignation to Bush because he had "failed in that responsibility" involving the "16 words" involving yellow cake, and that "the high standards the president set were not met." Bush denied Hadley's request. Glad to see talent rises to the top!!! :sarcasm:
