rep. Just heard that on Hardball . . .

this from Jun 7, 2005:

At the behest of a lobbyist now under criminal investigation, two Indian tribes paid $25,000 each to a conservative tax-exempt group to underwrite an event that scored tribal leaders a private meeting with President Bush.

The arrangement in 2001 between the tribes, lobbyist Jack Abramoff and the Americans for Tax Reform group, led by Bush supporter Grover Norquist, was confirmed by tribal lawyers and documents showing the solicitation of money and promise of a meeting.

"The exposure would be incredible and would be very helpful," Abramoff wrote to one of the tribe's attorneys in asking for the donation. "One of the things we need to do is get the leaders of the tribe (ideally the chief) in front of the president as much as possible."

The White House has no record of the Coushattas or Abramoff at the May 9, 2001, meeting, spokeswoman Erin Healy said. Records show representatives from the Kickapoo Traditional Tribe of Texas and the Chitimacha Tribe of Louisiana met with Bush, along with 21 state legislators, spokeswoman Healy said.

Was Abramoff getting face time with Bush for Kickapoo Indians the day of the photo? Was Abramoff there? *May 9, 2001*

2. Are they trying
to slow us down from searching for a picture of Abromoff and *' just curious because first they say they are looking at our search records(scare tactic) then they try and throw another curve by saying five have been found but then never show them online?

I'm going to keep searching till they show the pic.

5. The 'Washingtonian' has seen five photos of the President with Abramoff
or his family. One photo shows the President and Abramoff shaking hands at a meeting in the Old Executive Office Building, where a bearded-Abramoff introduced Bush to several of the lobbyist’s native-American clients.

Abramoff would tell prosecutors, if asked, that not only did he know the President, but the President knew the names of Abramoff’s children and asked about them during their meetings. At one such photo session, Bush discussed the fact that both he and Abramoff were fathers of twins.

3. Is this trick wording?
Were Abramoff and Poncho of the Coushattas there on a date other than May 9th?

...The White House has no record of the Coushattas or Abramoff at the May 9, 2001 meeting...

4. Jailed Kickapoo leader claims no knowledge of English (One in Photo)

Thursday, December 9, 2004

The former chairman of the Kickapoo Tribe of Texas says he never went to school and doesn't understand English or the law.

Raul Garza appeared in federal court on Wednesday after being charged with theft from a gaming establishment and embezzlement. Authorities say he and Isidro Garza, a non-Indian, used the tribe's casino as their personal piggybank.

The two men did not enter a plea but Raul Garza tried to address the court in Spanish. "I am a Kickapoo tribal member and I have never been to school. I don't know the laws and I don't understand English," he told the judge, The San Antonio Express-News reported. The men are being held in jail until their detention hearing set for Monday

Many members of the Kickapoo Tribe speak Kickapoo, Spanish and English, and tribal ceremonies and events are often conducted in all three languages. Tribal members often travel to Mexico, where they were granted a reserve.
