More proof of "Pro-Life" hypocrisy: blood money and career moves
built on the deaths of innocents.

To be considered for a place at the trough in Bagdhad Green Zone for $9 billion in Iraqi "reconstruction money" - "What are your views on Roe v. Wade?"

Honestly, I'd like to meet some Real Pro-Lifers someday; they'd be someting New and different, which is what we need right now.

1. I'm pro-life...and pro-choice. And, regardless of what some may think...

...the two positions are quite compatible.

I know of very few people--if any--who are in favor of abortion, as a routine birth control measure, and it's intellectually dishonest to suggest such a thing. But, if not for intellectual dishonesty, Bush's base wouldn't have anything to say.

2. You can be personally against abortion and not want it criminalized.
That's a Pro-Choice position.

4. Exactly.

And you can be personally opposed to abortion while supporting the right of others to make that decision for themselves. That's being pro-life and pro-choice. The circumstances under which I would elect to terminate a pregnancy are very, very limited but I will never insist that my reasons for rejecting abortion must be your reasons, as well.

5. The best mothers will be those who choose.
And if they choose wrongly, that fact should be "on their own souls"; it isn't our responsibility.

As to the "Holocaust of the Innocents" that abortion is, we need to talk about that, as long as we talk about all of the holocausts of all of the Innocents, not just fetuses.

Abortion is a symptom, not the disease.

6. I personally don't believe the destruction of a single fertilized egg
is much more significant of a "holocaust" than the destruction of an unfertilized egg or a sperm.

I do think if "pro-lifers" are really interested in reducing the numbers of surgical abortions, they should support universal access to safe, effective contraception, a SPHC system, a liveable minimum wage and truth-based sex ed in schools WITH condom and other contraceptive availability. That's my take on it.

3. There is a Real calling for real Pro-Lifers who can integrate
the very positive values that brings into reality, a complete reality that includes the fact that War is Social Abortion.
