That's our Ben Masel, a Madison activist who loves to stir things up. The incumbent is Democratic Senator Herb Kohl, who is too rich for anyone to seriously run against. A 14% protest vote- we've got some serious anti-incumbent sentiment going on...

5. Ben Masel - A Senator YOU can afford - $1 contributions only.
He's a real character. He has been fighting for the legalization of marijuana for a long time. He's not a viable candidate, but he's a smart guy and a terrific 'protest candidate'... has also run as a libertarian and republican for other offices in the past.

2. He got 14%!??
That is probably as good as Ben has ever done in a statewide election. That really is impressive when you consider he probably only spent about $200, most of which was on gasoline and snacks.

7. If we didn't have Ben, we'd have to recruit someone for that role

8. One of those votes was from me, I'm proud to say.
Herb has voted for the IWR, and forever lost my respect. If I can educate myself of national defense policies by listening to Scott Ritter before the war started among others so could he. He chose not to, thus pissed off plenty of loyal blue cheeseheads.

9. He is stubborn as a bull about it.
I imagine Rae Vogeler (Green Party) may get a lot of "protest" votes in November because she is against the war- wouldn't it be something if she beat Kohl!
