Senate Judiciary APPROVES Specter's FLAWED Wiretap Bill
Senate committee acts on NSA wiretapping bills. The Senate Judiciary Committee today approved Sen. Arlen Specter’s (R-PA) dangerously flawed bill that would abolish all limits on the president’s eavesdropping powers. But the committee also approved two competing bills, including one strong bill by Sen. Diane Feinstein (D-PA) that would bring the entire NSA program before the FISA court. Glenn Greenwald sorts out the details.

UPDATE II: As I've documented many times -- the most recent such documentation here -- the notion that Democratic opposition to warrantless eavesdropping will "help Republicans" is transparently false Rovian bravado that has been empirically disproven time and again. As I document here, the opposite is true -- most Americans oppose warrantless eavesdropping, and the throngs of Americans who have abandoned the President are not going to stream back to Republicans based on a non-existent desire to see the President have the power to eavesdrop on Americans with no oversight.

3. Time to start the old "(202) 224"
Our congress critters should know we don't like warrantless wiretapping or torture any better now than we did before.

Oh Yeah. . We STILL don't want the UAE to operate our ports..
