The suggestion to use microwave weapons: Let's call it what it really is.
This was an open and public threat against the American people by a senior official of the the US military.

Let that sink in for a moment...

Again, a very high-ranking United States military official made a public threat against Americans--especially those who might use their Constitutional rights to oppose their government's actions or policies--that the military would use on American citizens what would in any other context be defined as a "WMD".

It's time to call your reps. ANY member of the Congress or Senate who is not--AT THE VERY LEAST--calling for Air Force Secretary Michael Wynne's resignation is as far as I'm concerned no longer in a position to call themselves American.

1. Mind you: the pretense is to verify that the weapon is "safe"
Think on this implication:

"We don't know if this will prove to be fatal when used in the field, so we will test it on our own citizens first. There are laws that prevent them from filing suit against the US government, and laws prohibiting them from taking their suit to the World Court. We are not shielded if we "accidentally" kill citizens of another country, and might be held criminally liable for any deaths."

5. Correct. And a pretense is all it is. The reality is a threat to use
military force used to dissuade anti-war groups or uppity minorities.

The clear implication is that the US military will deploy experimental weapons against Americans.

37. Easy! Have Wynne show up every morning 8am for a safe dose for next 6 mos
... I am betting that after just a week of daily microwave exposures his idea of "safe" will have changed. And since he wants to be thorough, why not turn up the dosage each day until he finds a level that is no longer "safe."

These Pentagon deskjockeys are tough until they have to step forward and "take one for the team", or country in this case.

Edited on Wed Sep-13-06 11:37 AM by MindPilot
He is still a senior official--official not officer--of the US military, in fact THE senior official of one branch of the military.

The Secretary of Air Force is the liaison between the top brass and the civilian government and--he of all people-- should not be making threats.

edit for clarity

11. He is a senior official of the US military.
He is a civilian but the description is correct. He is part of the US Air Force, as are all civilian employees of the military.

Rumsfeld is a civilian too but it is correct to describe him as a senior official of the US military.

Edited on Wed Sep-13-06 11:55 AM by Jeanette in FL
And let them know that this will not stand. We know that that the military has done experiments on our citizens in the past, but we never found out about it until it had already been done.

Now we have proof in our hands of what they would like to try on us this time.

We need to scream from the roof tops. We are the media.

Call congress, let both your Senators know your concern and request a written reply from them. Then call your representative and request the same.

Call local radio station with the information and write letters to the editors. This is a treasonous action.

This needs to be done now.

18. I remember when Mike Malloy discussed how these creepy
"non-lethal" weapons might be used against protesters,
and either he or someone calling in pointed out that
among the many the downside to these things is that
the microwave frequency might be severe enough to blow
out the metal fillings in your mouth.

Likewise any metal pinnings that you have in your body.

24. I think you might be misinterpreting
He might actually be saying that it's a weapon that should never be used on anyone, and the way to make sure it isn't is to demand that if it's going to be used, it should be used first on people --US voters-- who will be so outraged by the sheer inhumanity of it that they'll administer a terminal ass-kicking to everyone involved.

27. This isn't just a crowd control device, it's a torture device.
But Bush, Cheney and Co. aren't mentioning that. As I mentioned in another thread, it's a perfect torture device - a machine that (when set to the correct power level for that purpose) can cause excruciating pain without leaving a mark on the victim, preserving plausible deniability. Just strap the guy down in front of the emitter and turn it on. (For extra credit, leave some balls of tinfoil on the victim so he can watch them start arcing.) I can imagine that you may see these microwave weapons at Gitmo, Abu Ghraib and the CIA's secret prisons soon (if they aren't there already...)

Best part is that if we're talking about a secret prison full of people who've been "disappeared", just turn up the power a bit and let second and third degree burns & internal organ damage persuade those pesky prisoners to be more cooperative, or turn the machine up to full power, leave it on for a while, and cook a human being like a microwave burrito.

You know in your heart that Bush, Cheney and Gonzales won't have a single pang of conscience coming from using these weapons in this way...

But as Clint Eastwood once said, "deserve's got nothin' to do with it." You give up the first, and you're guaranteed to lose the second, and we're seeing that happen already.

42. congress.org is a good resource for letters to & from We The People
They have a "soapbox" feature where you can post a letter to other citizens (I think it does cost a few dollars to use that feature), as well as handy links to all your congress people. You can choose to have your letters to reps & senators made public at no charge. I think the letters get quite a bit of exposure there. At the moment, two among the most current are ripping * a new one for failures of 9/11.

45. My favorite part about microwave weapons:
They don't work on people who aren't showing exposed skin. Thus a close follower of traditional fashion in Iraq or Afghanistan will already be mostly protected from the effects of microwave weapons--even their headgear is already designed for full-face protection.

The people who aren't protected from such weapons are Americans and people who have generally adopted Western dress. In America, people actually react adversely to others who have their faces covered--just try walking around town in a ski mask, even in winter, and you'll know what I mean.

I can't think of a better way to create a fundamentalist army virtually overnight than to attempt to use these weapons in the Middle East. But they will work really well right here in America.
