What is the Right Wing's Number One Nightmare?
Edited on Sun Jan-22-06 07:03 PM by stepnw1f
I was just thinking about this, and figured it would be a good thing for a thread. Let's see what our perception of their number 1 fear(s) is.

What say you?

96. Without a doubt, and they're all worried to death that she can win
Whenever I've been out and about doing business, and I come across some rightwing nutcases, their faces become twisted, distorted, and turn beet red if I bring up Hillary's name. I don't let on that I'm a Democrat, and I almost always ask them very casually if they think she'd actually stand a chance at winning. Almost always, they shreek, "Oh god yes!!" as if it would be the end of the world for them.

21. The development of class-consciousness and a genuine...
workers' movement demanding real economic democracy -- "workers" being every one of us who is not independently wealthy.

Indeed all right-wing policy (which is to say all U.S. policy foreign and domestic) is formulated with precisely the intent of destroying all such efforts -- and even such notions -- the destruction further enforced by the (corporate-run) public school system and the (corporate run) mass media, not to mention corporate-dominated religion.

Nothing -- absolutely nothing -- is more terrifying to the oligarchy than the prospect of worker solidarity and the true economic democracy that would result.

22. Here's my shot at it
They wake up one morning, and a cold glare doesn't send shivers down some random person's spine. They raise their voice, but the hapless bank teller or shop clerk doesn't tremble. They state their opinion, and nobody cares. People go on with their lives as if the fowl, unlikable attitude of the right wing doesn't mean anything in the world. They realize they have lost their power, the power to infuriate, frighten, and manipulate, and will have to live the rest of their lives in the very same mire of lack of job security, poor environment, lack of medical insurance, lack of pensions, they've aided in trying to 'pass onto the left'.

Their greatest nightmare is being forced to live as equals, and realizing that their callous and crude intentions won't get them liked, but possibly, even get them killed. Just like in the real world...where they belong, so they can be stomped on.

Every single time some windbag right wing hack or politician gets on tv and whines about the "liberal" media, they should have the Fairness Doctrine thrown in their lap, followed by an invitation for them to publicly commit their full support to make sure the "liberal" media is forced to abide by the Fairness Doctrine.

Their biggest fear has to be the American people.
What if we (collectively) wake up? What if we finally stop believing every piece of BS that they toss at us?
The BS is working for them and they know it. This is the biggest fear for them - that it will all backfire someday.

41. After bush is impeached
Cheney has a heart attack and falls in to a coma on his
inauguration day. Then, as frist is being inaugurated,
he comes out of the closet, and declares his presidency
all about returning rights to gay people and women.

Frist then sets about cleansing all branches of government of
all straight men and women, leaving them mixed in the military
so that the GBLT leadership can toy around with the remaining
straight boys.

To free up money for all the new gay and lesbian community
outreach programmes, the military budget is cut back by 50%,
and the mini-skirt is declared the official mens dress of the
united states. The drugs war is ended, and all the out of
work republicans are interred in prison camps for unrepentent state felons.
These camps are supplied daily with truckloads of condoms and viagra
whilst the republican ex-wives head down to south america to join
the people's insurgency against US corporate tyranny.

:-)

51. Checks and balances!
They control all branches of government, including the Supreme Court, but they behave like victims when those in the minority stand up for themselves. But this doesn't just apply to the government definition. The right wing fears the idea of checks and balances in all areas of life. They don't like it when the power of a landlord over a tenant is checked, or when there are limits to the power an employer has over an employee. Not having absolute, unchecked power is terrifying to the right wing.

They are most afraid of:

A large, powerful central government taking over people's lives and infringing on their rights. Also, they are afraid of said government using wasteful practices and spending the country into deficit.

Apparently that's why they vote for Republicans...
