My apologies if this is a dupe. I'd wondered how a lefty like Keitel would react. He has problems with the lack of accuracy, which he explains very well and succinctly. I met him while I was working as an extra on the film. I'd intended to watch it just because I'm in one of the scenes with Keitel, but now that he's kind of disowning the project, I won't feel too bad about not watching it.

BTW, head on over to imdb.com and check out some of the comments. A wide range of opinion! And the current rating is one star (though it's hard for me to fathom how anyone could give it a rating before seeing it, or maybe I'm just being too liberal-minded).

1. Sorry, not buying it. If if he really disagreed with the content
why did he stick with it and get paid?

Saying later that the movie stinks does not remove the fact that he went along with all the stinking lies in the movie just to get a paycheck.

6. Yeah. right.
I couldn't imagine sitting still while all the liberal bashing and lies were going on, much less play a big part in it.

5. Evidently, the script was different than what became the final product...
There was quite a bit of improvisation as the film was shot.

3. He took their money
Elsewhere I called it thirty pieces of silver. I'll stand by that description. He took their money and made their nasty little hit piece. If he's really a lefty, it's even worse -- that makes him a quisling to boot. Fuck you, Harvey. You're on the list as well. I won't spend a time or a second of my time to watch anything you make.

8. Well, so did I...
...all $150 of it. I guess I feel kind of dirty now, but it was months ago and I've already spent it.

10. Was it obvious the movie was going to be a rightwing hit piece
when you were with the shoot?

11. No, it was just called "Untitled History Project" at the time.
The scene I'm in takes place on the day O'Neill takes his job at WTC a week before 9/11 and he's introducing himself to the staff. I'm one of the staff.

12. I can't imagine what it was for (and I'm not asking)
But if you took their money, I hope you did some good with it!

9. On the benefit-of-the-doubt side, it's possible
that he didn't know the content of the film, in its entirety, with regard to scenes he didn't have a part in. In fact, it's quite probable, in light of claims that the most controversial scene was improvised, to an extent...even if you don't believe that, script revisions happen and could have been made after he read the original script.

So maybe that's how it went down. And maybe not.

In my book, he's still working off the karmic debt from being in that Jonathon Mostow piece of crap titled U-571 (and he wasn't even good in it, to make matters worse).
